Don’t worry at the end of the year the government will take 30% of that 350k on top of the 30% they already take away from your paycheck, you should be grateful you peasant

No I am ripping on our government for giving all these workers money they don't need.

Lets be honest, this isn't about helping people, this is about stimulating consumer spending because our fed policies have broken as we cannot lower rates any further and quantitative easing has already run its course. Next step is helicopter money which is what this is. Ben Bernanke and Milton Friedman have argued for this for decades. Only other option is negative rates which Japan and euro****s have already tried

theres been times this year i literally work 100 hr weeks and never leave my home office setup (not even time to shower or eat at kitchen table on the worst days) constant stressful grinding away with neverending emails and im messages of "whats the status...whats teh ETA?? need to send to client ASAP"

some weeks are pretty chill....almost 9-5... can slack off and slow roll emails and deliverables as people assume you are getting crushed and dont know any better. summer was super chill as most companies were safeguarding cash after the lockdowns as they didnt know what would happen. once everyone realized the virus was a joke, all the corporate merger and financing activity exploded.

i put in minimum 40-50 on slowest week, 100 hrs on worst. average 75.

Going buy side.

Good luck.. will be hard to give up the pay w/ an entire family to support.

But coffee chat / mentor / networking is right i think. Looked for quite a while thru linkedin and online stuff and didn't get a ton of hits. Headhunters mostly useless.

Ended up getting this through a friend.

Edit: Also your hours seem decent or a lot better than I had. I was at a sweatshop.. Nonetheless, if you don't think this job is for you i would try to get out ASAP. Toiling in it for a while isn't the way to go in my opinion.

2019 was just used as an estimate

its an advance on a 2020 tax credit. ONLY your 2020 income matters.

If your 2019 is too high but your 2020 is low enough - you get the money when you file 2020 taxes

if your 2019 was low enough, they assume you make the same so they sent you a check... but if your 2020 income is too high... youre paying it back when you file taxes.

if you use tax software like turbo tax it will figure it out for you


For OP's fraudcel imaginary story... they would send him the check but he would just pay it back when he does his taxes for 2020.

Its viewed as an advance tax credit for purposes of income so you don't pay taxes on the cash infusion. You will not be paying it pack by some 2020 income metric. 100% myth.
