Bitcoin is used now as a store of value, speculative investment, and for payments (though that is the minority use).
I like you criticisms of Bitcoin, and I agree with most of them. I believe that Bitcoin is garbage tech compared to other cryptocurrencies, however IMO over the next couple of years IMO it will make people rich.
I believe that Ethereum will stick around longer than Bitcoin, and will one day be worth as much as Bitcoin. Because Ethereum is a distributed smart contract network - which people build DApps on - as well as a cryptocurrency.
Polkadot too looks like it will possibly be there alongside Ethereum.

Bitcoin is a scam to get the Middle Class to invest money, when it crashes they lose everything.
The rich will then stay rich.

I’d say tangible assets like precious metals are better investments and I have some (very little some, mind you) crypto. I hope it goes to the moon and makes you all rich. Just don’t go broke doing it. But that’s the same for any investment.

I'm not saying they won't get bailed out some way like in 07/08 if there is a market meltdown, but they do have skin in the game.

“A robust structure needs little to no reinforcement. A weak structure needs constant reinforcement to be kept alive.”
New technology creates new opportunities. With blockchain technology arise cryptocurrencies. Currencies which can be truly decentralized. However, creating a long-lasting decentralized network is far from easy, as there are forces at play working against it. When we choose a new currency, it would be wise to choose one that is sustainable over the long term, if not, we risk having to depart from it, and start all over again. Therefore, it´s important to deeply think about which currencies we should choose to invest our energy in. What properties should a future proof sustainable currency have?
Humans have long lusted after scarce things, such as gold or big diamonds. None of those have a supply cap, however.
There can only be 21 million BTC, unless a hard fork that changes that is widely supported.
Scarcity is often claimed to be a good thing, but is it really? A scarce asset will naturally be more difficult to mass adopt, because there is less to go around. A cryptocurrency should ideally be adopted as much as possible to support a long-lasting ecosystem and a good coin distribution.
If we assume the universe, consciousness or existence is infinite, is it really a good idea to artificially create an asset with a supply cap?

Only thing I support about Bitcoin is the average person making money during this bullrun.
Humans have long lusted after scarce things, such as gold or big diamonds. None of those have a supply cap, however.
A supply cap is just a form of scarcity.Gold is scarce naturally, and Diamonds are scarce artificially (the De Beers corporation intentionally suppresses supply).
Scarcity is often claimed to be a good thing, but is it really? A scarce asset will naturally be more difficult to mass adopt, because there is less to go around.
Cryptocurrencies are broken into fractions of the unit. The percentage of the supply is the issues, and that is also an issue for fiat currency. The 1% owns the majority of fiat currency in existence.
Only way to really have a truly economically distributed cryptocurrency is if we average Joes buy in when it's at a low market cap. We failed that, to be honest. Maybe an emerging coin will have that luxury
A cryptocurrency should ideally be adopted as much as possible to support a long-lasting ecosystem and a good coin distribution.
Most people IMO don't want to use cryptocurrency to buy things. (I do.)There is adoption happening in Latin America FWIW, merchants are increasingly accepting cryptos like Bitcoin Cash, Dash, Smartcash and Nano.

I trade stocks for a living and so I pay close attention to stock charts and RSI. Relative strength index. Anything above an 80 on the RSI means a stock is severely overbought. Above 90 and it is in clown overbought territory. It also means the stock will fall and fall hard shortly....100% of the time. No exceptions.
Right now the RSI for bitcoin is around 87. I would look for a major correction in bitcoin price within 3-5 days.

The more I look at bitcoin, the less I understand its valuation. Not saying it's not worth 30K, it could be worth $100k or $10, I can't figure out how to value the damn thing. I guess you could say the same for all fiat currencies though.

Roger Ver's story still blows my mind. Dude brought and held Bitcoin when it was phuckin $13! He also set up an online store to sell things in Bitcoin before it was mainstream. He said he knew due to his reading of economics and the tech that it would be huge. Dude is a multi-millionaire, and well known promoter of cryptocurrency adoption.

Dude ran for public office, and during his campaign trail public criticized the FBI for killing kids during WACO, he literally called them murderers to the public. This was back when the WACO massacre was still a big topic.
He was selling agriculture explosives on ebay, along with other people. He was - he says - the only person in U.S. arrested and imprisoned for doing so, and that only happened after he ran for public office criticizing the government. He also said that he asked the U.S. based wholesaler if he needed a licence to sell the agriculture explosives, and they told him him no.

its a pump and dump scam. I own some eth btw so my portfolio is going up as well. Doesn´t mean I won´t call out the scam that Bitcoin is though. It´s a get rich pyramid scam with bad fundamentals and few attractive usecases. The price is desgned to rise because of artificially created demand and an smaller and smaller supply. Scam
And no, I don´t have a short position on Btc, but it´s tempting to open one.

I'll reiterate... I believe that Bitcoin will make people rich in the next few years, even though I think the tech is trash, compared to other cryptocurrencies (e.g. Bitcoin Cash, Monero, etc) . This thread is about helping the average joe to make some financial in 2021 and 2022.

Tether dumps btc for fiat
Rinse and repeat lol

Honestly the way this chit works is you gotta buy low to have confidence, if you are buying at a time like this you are running a high risk scenario. Same deal with stocks really, you want to be the guy who bought it when it was low, buying in when it's hitting peak is how people end up losing money.

It's essentially a pyramid scheme whereas newer investors prop up the perceived value of the bitcoin so that older investors can make a quick buck. Unless you bought bitcoin early on, you are wasting your hard earned money on "nothing". Can't wait for bitcoin to crash so that people get a reality check.
Case in point, Exxon Mobbil, Shell, Boeing, Mcdonalds, Walmart, and other companies have assets that can be liquidated and or traded, Bitcoin has no such thing. All it has is wishful thinkers who think they're gonna be rich off of crypto. Once again, I don't care about the anecdotal evidence of someone getting rich off of crypto, I look at the hard data and all I see is ppl making tiny profits or hardly anything at all.
