Well, he did his homework about the virus itself.

I think his conclusion in regards to the virus are very fair conclusions.

The fact that there are people who have the ability to circumvent them doesn't negate his conclusion tbh

So if that was a collective decision that was made, you can see why that's a bit disastrous in it's own implication.

I'm in agreement here, but I don't think Wincel is dumb for not immediately coming to this conclusion.

I'm extremely pro-working class because I watch regularly as they get dicked down like red headed step children and then turned against each other.
It sucks, but that's the sad reality of our country. They've done it with banks as well. Small banks and credit unions close all the time, but Citi was rescued. They looked at it and figured if they let it die, the entire US economy might have crashed. It's sad, but true. Too big to fail is a thing, and I think Walmart is definitely one of those companies that is too big to fail.

If you read my posts, you'll see I never claimed that. Anachron is strawmanning me. Obviously people are taking advantage. That's expected.

Again, I didn't say any of this. If you go back and read what was said and what Anachron said, you'll realize how he twists chit and tries to play "gotcha" and strawmans wherever he can. It's incredibly frustrating trying to talk to him.

Exactly. Nothing he said about Walmart has anything to do with what I was talking about. In fact, it's a total distraction. In fact, he has yet to justify his argument that the CDC is somehow politically motivated in their recommendations. He points to Walmart as some sort of example. Show me where the CDC even said anything about Walmart. Those decisions are made at a more local level, and I would think it was more due to economic realities than corruption, but whatever. None of that has anything to do with the nature of covid or the stuff I have posted. At all. It's literally some bullchit to deflect because I said some bad things about his favorite politician.

This virus is actually not a partisan issue. It is killing Republicans and Democrats just the same. It's something that needs to be taken seriously.

They left walmart open because for a lot of cases, it's the best possible way we have to distribute food.

Asked and answered directly.

End of discussion on that point. Let's move on.

Just a question, how does Wal Mart being open invalidate Wincel's conclusion on the virus itself?

It invalidates the entire premise of the response advocated by a lot of the governments around the world.

Edit: It was in direct response to your comment about conspiracy theorists - which these days is used a lazy way to get rid of argument of anyone questioning the current narrative. Which whether we like it or not, is more political than not.

If you think it is unfair that a large company like Walmart gets to sell other things in addition to their food and necessaries, you can feel free to write your congressman and get legislation passed. However, I will point out that this is irrational behavior. It doesn't make sense to further damage the economy in the interest of "fairness" rather than let the large firm that handles food and most other necessaries also continue selling whatever it is they are going to sell. As to WHY they do it, the answer is that Walmart is a business trying to sell things. Why they are allowed to do it is that nobody has passed legislation preventing them from doing it because it doesn't make economic sense as I explained.

The vaccine puts power back into the hands of the individuals who have been fukked by the situation.

No it doesn't. People who do not take into account the economic importance of firms like Walmart along with their bundling of distribution of other goods with their distribution of food and necessaries think it does. But it doesn't. It actually makes perfect sense for a TV store to be closed while Walmart remains open distributing food and TVs. They could close off the TV distribution at Walmart to make things fair, but it would just hurt everyone more. I don't see why you don't understand this.

But forcing thousands of other businesses to close does make economic sense?

Are you going to link that study that show how going to Wal-Mart to buy a TV puts you at less of a risk of catching Covid19 than if you go to an outdoor garden center anytime soon?

Yeah. Most of those had nothing to do with the food supply and aren't as economically relevant as Walmart. I think that makes sense, and you obviously don't. We're at an impasse.

Let's move on.

If you think it's not fair, write your congressman. I'm not your fuking congressman. I can't change the law.

I also don't see why I've been suckered into a discussion where I have to defend Walmart. I fuking hate Walmart. I hope the government eats them one day.

ANYWAY

It's not an impasse, you've made statements you can't prove.

Why is it safer to buy a TV at Wal-Mart, than to buy a TV at an electronics store ( to keep it apples to apples )?

Why is it safer to go to a Wal-Mart than to go to the local outdoor garden center?

The TV store is nonessential. The garden center is nonessential as well. Both can be replaced by Walmart anyway, and I think that's the reality of what we are seeing now. In such situations, it seems to favor large firms with large distribution networks that can sell a huge variety of things centrally. Target, Walmart, Costco, Amazon, have all reported huge successes. What do they all have in common? What do they have that small businesses don't? There's your answer. It's an economy of scale and in a crisis situation, they have the advantage. Nobody likes it, but it's what is happening. You seem to think it was engineered to be this way. I don't.

Try re-reading my post, it's only a couple of sentences. How is shopping at Wal-Mart safer than somewhere else?

You agree that there are opportunistic entities that have taken advantage of the situation that has arisen and the end result is that small business/the working class is getting fukked.

Basically, wealth is being siphoned away from the working class because they MUST play by the rules.

The vaccine could potentially put a halt to all of this, and therefore prevent the ultra wealthy from continuing to exploit the situation by ending the situation itself.

By that logic, the vaccine puts power back into the hands of the working class. Any attempt at suppressing the vaccine, I believe, would be an aim to prolong the situation.

At no point was there a deflection, and it is not my fault that you are too idiotic to make the connection to see how I answered your question. You do this a lot, and I'm starting to realize you are autistic and have some weird issue where you need something directly answered and spelled out for you. That or you like to pretend to be this way to try to control the conversation.

I don't. I just see it as a reality during this situation. It's what is happening and an unfortunate consequence. I don't like it. I'm no fan of these large firms. Monopolies and firms that have large influence screw up economies.

Vaccination to the extent that is required for that to be true is a long way away.

By the time this entire situation is over and done with, the damage will be severe ( heck it already is ), and we will see if it can be recovered from.

There are very few governments around the world that have treated the situation properly - most have been content with padding the pockets of those who control them.

Nonessential businesses being closed results in reduced spread.

I don't.

So let me get this straight...

The virus knows which business are essential, and which ones aren't?

"Nonessential businesses being closed results in reduced spread."

The virus doesn't think. It doesn't have a brain. It can't know anything.

Where do you get that I support it? I'm telling you what is happening. I'm not saying it's good. Why do you conflate the two?
