Generally, but not always, internet ratings are a bit inflated, by about 100-200 points or so, so if I’m 2300 at my best online I’d be 2100-2200 in real life, but there are plenty of FMs in 2100s online (thou they must be 2300 in person in order to receive the title), it all depends on wether they are good at blitz, their connection, their mouse and computer quality (keep in mind that sometimes you MUST make about 10 moves in 2 seconds, or you lose on time), and of course wether they are in good form or not.

Sometimes when I beat an FM or someone like that I think they are retired and haven’t played chess in years, their moves are so bad that there is no way they are an actual FM. Maybe they got it when they were 18 years old, and now they are 72 Years old and LDAR

I reccomend this site. It's the 10 day chess challenge. The cideos are meant to be watched once a day, but if you want, you can go through more. Used it when I was around 1000 rapid.

@Misc Chess Club

Chess club created, please join here:https://www.chess.com/club/drewdarden-fangirls-united

As I understand, this is the easiest way to mass invite a specific subset of players to a tournament. This is my first time doing this though, so I may be wrong-- bear with me brahs. Tourney enrollment is still open for another 36.5 hours from the time of this posts publication, I'm still watching this thread and adding all those who post their usernames, but having a central hub in the form of a club will probably be the easiest way to keep this chit organized.

Stay frosty brahs. Tourney incoming.

@kusok, lol @ people trying to cheat on a misc chess tourney. We're better than brah. (not srs already planning cheating strategy now)

Go check out agadmator on yt. He shows and analyzes some "bigger" and famous games. Idk how much you can learn from that as a beginner (I assume you are?), but you can pick up some great ideas for sure. Other than that just practice openings and try to understand them.

Which club do we join? If there's any

Okay brahs we're going live.

Here is the invitation link for the tournament:https://www.chess.com/tournament/calling-out-chessbrah

Cliffs:
- 1 day per move
- Only members of the chess club (linked in #101) can join, so join there first.
- Not rated, this is the first time we've done this so let's just have this one be for fun. We can start punishing each other next time.
- Start date is Jan 8 @ 12pm PST, players are playing 1 game at a time (maybe I will try to change that if I can because that seems like it may take too long)

LET'S GET IT BUDDY BOYOS.

Love agadmator. He makes me understand how to watch chess and how to appreciate the "beauty" of the game. Dude has a bright future ahead of him in the professional chess world (either as a player or organizer).

^^See cliffs brah.

How does it work for games? Do we get attributed opponents or we choose who we play against?

"Captures, captures, captures... it was at this moment that he resigned"... i've been enjoying watching him analyze super gm games. Though, it's more inspiring than it is instructive for my level (only been playing 3 weeks).

The system is going to assign all matchups I believe. If I remember correctly, Daily Tournaments (the one we're doing) means that we go round robin, everyone plays everyone, and then the second round basically just sorts top to bottom to determine places.

These tourneys typically take about a week or two on 48 hours per move, but we're doing half that so I suspect we'll have this sorted in 7-10 days.

Tourney is private to Misc Chess Club members so no rando 2000cels are going join the chat and bottom us out unless they post on the misc.

Agadmator is decent, but I HIGHLY recommend GM Daniel Naroditsky. Check out his "Speedrun to 3000" series. It is not so much a speedrun as it is instructive lessons at each rating. They're on going and I think he's at about 1700 right now.

Then on and off I would read a few books and play mostly online. But I have some friends and family who are a lot better than me at itCouple of pros. It’s a beautiful game.
