Why doesn't Africa go get the money?

Is it too late for Africa? Why did all the Africans choose to be poor and not immigrate to the gold rushes? Is it too late for Africa to start trading or investing? Did they ever have a chance?

The difference is that China has spent the last 40 years capturing the world's manufacturing industries (so that a few guys at the top can get rich lol) and now they have enough leverage that they don't have to give a fukk about western powers crying.

Look at covid. Do you think anything is going to happen to them? Do you think the west can go in there and tell them to clean up their filthy markets? Nothing. Zero leverage. We don't even make our own antibiotics anymore. The western world would collapse in 2 weeks without China.

I think something is already happening to them, and will continue to do so. Apple is forcing FoxConn to build a $1 billion dollar factory in India so they can move a part of their iPhone production there, with more plans to do so in the future. That's just one example.

This is why I don't get all the *******s who bish and moan about globalization. There have certainly been absolutely terrible effects on the American lower middle class, in service of the (in this case) Chinese lower class-- no doubt. But unless you kents want to go to war with the Chinese and experience global nuclear winter firsthand, the only thing that can happen to them is western companies can punish them by making them less rich, which makes it harder for them to govern because they need to focus on domestic issues instead of expansion issues.

Sure the west wouldn't last 2 weeks without China, and China wouldn't last a week without the west. It's the nature of the modern world brah.

Strong Chinese presence now in Africa. Local labour is insanely cheap. Pretty much indebted to them now

Rampant corruption at every level so nothing ever really gets done or it takes way too long

If you’re clever and have a good business idea you can ride the wave and make bank. Lots of underdeveloped markets that could take off there if you can execute properly

I'm absolutely reminded of the true life book 'Confessions of an Economic Hitman' when it comes to China in Africa. China is building African debt to them. The US did this in South America and the Middle East for decades. The debt creates political obligation, not just money obligations.
