Gamestop is a blockbuster of gaming even if you look at the newest generation consoles both of them come with a digital-only version which gamestop will make 0 money from.

Even using Gamestop as an outlier you look at companies like Tesla there is no way Tesla should be worth what it is right now and even Elon Musk has said the stock is overpriced.

You can also look at Uber stock and you have to laugh at its valuation considering the company has been losing money for years with no profits in sight. They just sold their self driving car section too so there is 0 chance they will reduce their operating cost in the near future..

Doubt that happens. Doing so could risk ruining the perception of "stocks", "investing", "wall street", etc., amongst an entire generation of upcoming active investors. They will let this squeeze run, as they should. We might see some new things added into, or rather omitted from, regulation to prevent this from happening in the future, i.e. institutional shorts not having to report their massive short positions in great detail, or at all, in the future.

Guess I'm a meme investor now. Put $1k into AMC.

I've already passed on Tesla, Palantir, and Gamestop (and all the SPACs which I don't understand) over the last 5 months because I thought this stuff was nonsense.

I can eat a $1k loss, so no biggie. But maybe it'll roll into Virgin and Bed, Bath and Beyond and I can turn it into a fun week long event. Honestly this feels like a once in a lifetime thing where main street takes on Wall Street, and I don't think it will last.

I'm getting an itch to invest 10k into whatever the next one is. GME is too high risk at this point

The list was posted a few pages back. I think AMC is the next one just because its initial price point is so low. I think Virgin (SPCE, which isn't on the list) is actually the next highest optioned stock, but it's pricey at $43/share.

I think the gist of it is that a bunch of autists from reddit basically did a financial Joker murder bit on some Wall Street guys.

And now they are rich.

It's actually almost exactly the plot of the movie Trading Places, but instead of just 2 guys screwing 2 other rich guys, it's 2 million redditors screwing some hedge funds. And the stakes are WAY higher.

From what I understand, that’s exactly what they did.

There was an article earlier about how they doubled down.

Doubled down as in shorted right? Either them or someone else continues to double down on the shorts?

I’m saying what if they did the opposite of that to hedge against their short position

I think you can do it on Robinhood relatively easily. Just don’t go full retard there was a kid who ended himself last year because he was like $750k negative because of potato short trading methods... just declare bankruptcy life goes on srs.

Is it time for a short (long put, feb maturity) on GME ? Sure it can still go up from here (who knows ?) but eventually in 4 weeks it will have to come down

If you get them when it pops to like 250 maybe, those are going to be minimum like 5k each though the IV is insane.
