IMO the best way todisincentivize single parenthoodwouldn't only target blacks. There is a lot of evidence that single parenthood is worse for children, and particularly for boys.

The largest part of many social safety net programs are for the benefit of children and you can't provide for impoverished children without also providing for the parent(s), but the way our programs are structured now there is a real benefit to being a single parent vs. married parents.

If we scrapped the present programs for a UBI, or Patriot Dividend, then there would no longer be a single parent bonus. Every adult and child gets the same $ amount. Maybe $250 weekly for adults, and $100 weekly for minors?

This would also eliminate the benefit cliffs that discourage people from working because the value they lose in benefits is more than the money they gain in earnings.

Another big problem that seems to be worse in minority communities is gang violence fueled largely by competition over the sale of illegal drugs.

Get the drugs off the street and into legal dispensaries.Hell I would damn near give the stuff away for free to any fool who wants to burn their lives down rather than subject everyone else to the collateral damage of the addiction and the violence stemming from its satisfaction. The one stipulation I would want in place for hard drugs though is that every time someone buys they have to be offered treatment and acknowledge that the are refusing it. It should be a real offer too; fund it with some of the saving on law enforcement.

I truly believe that the majority of quotas, scholarships, etc. should be for people that are economically disadvantage or disabled- not based on race or ethnicity.

The one exception is housing and urban development. Beginning in the 1930s banks redlined black neighborhoods and that has had a lasting impact on individual families as a house is the largest asset for most people.That surely reduced the wealth of the black community overall and in a multi-generational manner. I believe the practice became officially illegal in 1968, but there are many sources that claim it has continued in some areas up to the present day.

I would go for a one time first time buyer program for black Americans of a limited duration- 30 years maybe? The program would grant these buyers the 20% down payment for the purchase of a home to be owner occupied up to $80K. If the home is sold within five years of purchase the grant would have to be repaid on a pro-rated bases, but after 5 years no repayment would be required.

And I would hit up the banks to fund the largest part of the program.

Not exactly reparations, but some things I think could benefit the community.

You say you don't care, but you screech like you do.

Anyways, why not just make reparations be a free STEM education at a state school for anyone who is at least 50% black, kept at least a 3.2 GPA in high school, and is at least third gen American. Make that reparations and see how many people will try to claim the benefit.

Why would anyone care about the echoes of slavery from hundreds of years ago when we can't even bring ourselves to stop buying cheap consumer goods made by child slaves now?

The only variable that matters is leverage. BLM is scary close to figuring this out. There are 2 primary ways to get something you want from a privileged class; threat of violence or economic destruction. Those are the only levers you have to pull. If you can convince the ELITE that it will be cheaper and safer to pay reparations than lose their money and be lynched in the streets (irony alert!), then you can have a real negotiation.

How would eliminating single parenthood do anything to help the black and brown people suffering the largest inequities, that being those within the trans, queer, and nonbinary communities? Focusing on the patriarchal idea of the father figure to magically swoop in and solve everyone's problems is an embedded form of white supremacy and you are a ****ing racist.

My great grandfather on my fathers side was a mayor of a large city in Ohio for 20 years. My grandfather on my dads side was the President of the Chamber of Commerce for a large city in Ohio for 15 years.
My dad was a school superintendent for 20 years in MI.

On my mothers side, my grandfather was a WWII officer His family before him founded and started a city in Michigan. The high school is named after my moms maiden name as a result. 3 roads in the city are named after that side of the family. My grandfather also started and ran the largest hardware company in MI with the first one being in that town.

So....that is just for starters. I can go on.

Please, share with us all of the great things your family has done for this country.

Model Minority was used back in the day to tell other minority groups mainly Blacks "If they can do it why can't you!" and was a term used by White Americans to not only dismiss the notions of racism in society by pitting other minorities against one another.

At some point in time a minority group in this country has experienced racism and I think minorities as a whole do realize that their position in American society is temporary and at the whim of white sentiment.


Memcop and I talked about how the American government actually ****ed African Descendants of Slavery over..mainly with Lyndon B Johnson's War On Poverty that affected our economic means.

I don't fall into the victim narrative and IRL people know I'm a capitalist and probably lean more fiscally conservative on things. I think Blacks should focus on group economics and realize that no one is out to save them even well intended white leftists (even they have their own agenda).

I still keep the foot on the neck of White people who want to dismiss racism or the fact that being white in this society has benefitted them for generations up to this day.

Maybe it's different in the East coast b/c many of my Filipino friends had family that came here during WW2 and they moved on the eastern seaboard mainly Virginia.

I've been told on several occasions by many of them that they are considered the Blacks of Asia. I could understand Mexicans of Asian tho b/c in Latin America being Mexican is frowned upon for some reason.
