UBI isn't even a living income necessarily, and would benefit everyone. There's already a good percentage of the population getting handouts. UBI done correctly would give everyone equal opportunity to benefit from these handouts, while still being able to work hard to rise above. It's really the best of both worlds. It would eliminate the leeches that pop out more kids to get more money or don't go to work because they can make more money being a lazy POS, while also benefiting the working class.

This whole "just work hard aka learn 2 code" BS is just as dumb to preach as the people who say we need outright socialism. It's narrow minded and that mindset just leads to people taking advantage of the system we have now. We aren't going to go more towards the "just work hard direction" which would be necessary for it to work properly. It's too late. We can however give everyone equal opportunities for success instead of catering to lazy people like we do now. UBI actually would encourage people to work harder benefit those who do more than the lazy people looking for handouts.
UBI wouldn't benefit everyone. How did you come up with that?

I think what you meant to say is Medicaid and Medicare (i.e. socialized medicine) will bankrupt the country. I'm glad we agree that it should be reformed!

Let me break this down for you because it seems like you're a bit slow. We could have a socialized system, and more efficiently develop fewer new medical innovations (i.e. lower hanging fruit) and MORE PEOPLE CAN DIE because we did not allocate those extra resources to develop new drugs...or we can have a capitalist system which slightly more efficiently develops more drugs.

Let me know if you're still confused and still want to advocate for a system which IS EVIL AND KILLS MORE PEOPLE.

Are you referring to a fully socialized model like English or Germany or a half-assed one like Canada or Switzerland? In a half-assed model, I doubt the innovation will suffer much as the profit incentives are still there and there is likely a larger market for goods but innovation will be crushed in an English or German model. I mean, unless the government allocates resources efficiently lol

Switzerland has a higher median income than the US, more people have higher education, and the life expectancy is longer than in US.

I don't see what that has to do with my question. The Swiss model is probably my favorite existing healthcare model. The point I was making is that the type of socialized medicine you want drastically changes the policy. Also, I'd like to remind you that Switerzland makes up about 2.5% of the US population. It's not exactly an apples to apples comparison

Switerzland 8.545 million (2019)
Virginia 8.536 million (2019)

Virginia also has a higher median income, higher rates of education, and greater life expectancy than the US as a whole.

I do think some sort of UBI will be mandatory in the future though (obviously) and the sooner and more we admit that and work towards solutions, the better we will be for it. It gets a bad name because "socialism bad" but really it's necessary, and it will keep the benefits of capitalism while adding a lot of the benefits of socialism. I was 100% against it, thinking it was stupid until I did some research on it and actually put more than 5 minutes of thought into it.
UBI solves nothing when you consider that companies will raise prices to offset costs/taxes. Only alternative is a bigger unemployment check for the low IQ members of society that lost their job to an AI, but then you’ll start seeing massive increases of cultural decline and criminal activity like that Cyberpunk game.

Nothing wrong with socialism if the people there work hard and contribute. It also works better in smaller nations. Works great in Finland and Norway but not so great in Spain and France.
National Socialism works excellent because the people are unified. When society loses its cohesion through tribalism, ethics divergence, etc., then Socialism fails because only some groups will be functioning members of society.

Switzerland also has a freer market than the crony Capitalist US, ironically. Their country is legitimately better than the US in every way except for sheer size and money srs. People like to think the US is free and has guns and everything but Switzerland has all those but more accessible, and yes guns.

Healthcare is not socialism.

Usually socialism fails because incentives to fluidly adapt to demand do not exist, and they end up needing to force people to do b.s. things via inhumane law and order. It turns into a hyper-corrupt godlike power of the state, without resources actually available. People play politics as dirty as you see in historically corrupt places like this.

UBI makes sense. It would replace typical safety nets already existing.

You do realise that in Cuba, you have great amateur boxers who risk life to literally escape to the US so they can monetise their craft right?

I’m guessing the USSR didn’t reward those athletes, because if they did, that wouldn’t be very socialised, sounds more like capitalism if they’re exchanging their skills as a service for some rewards.

And yes USSR was a great example of the greatness of socialism. Only fk knows how many 10s of millions dead from starvation and dictatorship, and yes, that was all caused by the socialist system. Stalin couldn’t have that much power in a democratic state, just look at how Trump was fked despite being president.

Fair enough, I’m not familiar with the system but why do we always read reports of people going bankrupt due to medical bills? Can’t they all just get it on Medicaid?

The UKs nhs is more than sufficient enough 99% of the time. My dad had leg operations from an accident by the best surgeons in the country, all paid for by taxpayer money (which he’s contributed to for 50 years).

We should offer 2-tiered healthcare. Essentially dying softly for all the metabolic syndromemos on public insurance, and separate plans for people who either pay or men who take TRT to work several more years past retirement age.

The US is probably 4-8 years away from being a failed state. I think paying Switzerland to copy their government sounds better than any realistic other choices.

At the core, there is a hierarchy for everything, status, competence, leadership, power etc. The very nature of the universe.

To equalise all of that would be to go against the very nature of the universe and have complete, as you said “godlike control”, complete tyranny, in order to eliminate our differences and equalise everyone.

That’s where it goes wrong.

It’s like equalising NBA by race, left on merit the cream rises to the top, you can equalise it artificially (push less skilled Asians to the NBA) or equalise it tyrannically by forcing black people to stop playing basketball and force every Asian kid to play basketball.

In the end you might equalise the talent gap by race due to forced, tyrannically imposed, social control.

high IQ post

anyway OP you must realise political "science" is BS and what is socialism and capitalism is not really rigidly defined unlike real sciences

for example, lots of people say socialism is Scandinavia but that is not a correct def

so essentially two main things are associated with socialism and capitalism:

-- Socialist planned economy

This is the biggest pet peeve of this form of thinking. It numbs creativity (as the economy is managed by gov) and thus innovation, and does not give good incentives for people to make something big.

Compared to countries like the wider West where there is a free market and everything's price is determined solely by the consumer.

Scandinavia is as capitalist as the USA, they just have a better safety net funded through more taxation (this is a political decision).

Socialist planned economy doesn't work because human nature is more creative, innovative fueled by incentives.

-- One gov and central administration

Usually, communism is the next level and is thought to be the easiest way to manage a socialist plan economy.

Although, the main thing that does not work with socialism is the planned economy. For example, China is as capitalist as the USA now but is still managed by the communist party. That's another good example of how fluid these terms are.

So the Father of socialism Karl Marx basically thought that class division would result in struggles and boom-bust economics. The was actually impressively correct about boom-bust economics but he also underestimated the ability of capitalism to be regulated and reformed.

Has capitalism triumphed over socialism? It is a very strong word but it offers a lot of prosperity. Life is a big ol' bell curve. Most people are average. In socialism, there are also elites in the gov.

Again, I was replying to an idiot (not you, a different idiot) who implied Michael Jordan would never gotten as good as he was in a socialist country. I provided examples of athletic excellence that came from socialist countries. Again, your Cuban baseball example only further strengthens my argument as those players were developed in the society that the poster said couldn’t produce such talent.

Starvation wasn’t caused by the so Italian system, you idiot. There is a difference between socialism and totalitarianism.

The biggest negative of socialism is that people will incorrectly conflate it with communism. For example:

Common misconception. You don’t stand in the line for bread, you see a line and stand in it and find out what you get when you reach the end of the line.

Also you don’t buy the bread you have a government issued card.

Common misconception. You don’t stand in the line for bread, you see a line and stand in it and find out what you get when you reach the end of the line.

Also you don’t buy the bread you have a government issued card.
Ruble was cash money, bitch. You earned it and spent it on what you wanted. Bread. Cigarettes. Vodka. Whores, like your mother. Whatever. Bread wasn’t issued you stupid f*ck.

Funny you mention that because one time I joined the back of a very long line and after many hours when I finally made it to the front your mum was there.

Like I said above, it didn’t cost me a single kopekii either.
