The 1st shortage wasn't actually that bad, prices were inflated, and purchase limits were common. But it wasn't hard to find at all. I ordered the 5 box limit direct from Federal the whole time, every time an order got delivered, I ordered the limit again. Throughout most of this time 22lr, and 40 s&w were plentiful, and often didn't have limits.
The riot at the Capitol I believe was the start of the 2nd more severe shortage.Federal lowered their limit to 2 boxes. I continued to place an order soon as an order was received. By the 2nd time I tried, all the major calibers were out of stock at federal, and stayed that way. By this time 22lr and 40 s&w were all OOS as well, and even oddball calibers like 224 valkyrie are limited to only premium rounds in stock. The biden admin has already stated desires to ban online sales of ammo and accessories. So investing in more ammo manufacturing is more risky if online sales get banned. I talked to my LGS last week, and they're telling me distributors don't even give them a price till the deliveries show up, and at that point, it's take it or leave it.

Here, it's basically been four waves.
Covid lockdown started trending a slight scarcity among the super cheap box stores. The $8-$10 boxes of 9mm were all gone at Sportsman's Warehouse. I was still finding deals on ammo online and elsewhere though. No panic.
The George Floyd / BLM chit is what kicked it off hardcore. Suddenly common guns were scarce. Places starred to actually run out of 9mm and 5.56 and people stopped considering "is this a good price?" when buying. People started to prepare for realistic "what if the police don't come?" scenarios for defense and volume purchases went way up.
Day after the election was the start of the next level. All of the hardcore conservatives who believed in Trump started to realize things were dire and nobody was saving them. At this point, the ranges in town actually started to run out of 9mm and .45 even for their rental guns.
Last straw was the senate loss / capital riots and the "oh chit" feeling that came along with the Dems successfully paining the right as Nazi's and violent terrorists.
And here we are.
It's not gonna get better anytime soon, save one possibility. If at some point a gun control case gets before scouts and they smack it down, a lot of the current hoarding tension should ease. Apart from that... gonna be a long four years.

I'm in the process of building another 22lr blaster, as I don't think I'll be shooting much else in the foreseeable future. The only 22lr I've found in stock today was $0.31/round!

Absolutely zero reason to shoot .22 if its 30 cpr that’s just silly.
I’m still able to find mini mags for 10 cpr and federal bulk packs for 7. Not online but still.

Democrats being elected to POTUS and CONgress are.
The pandemic and the democrat nationwide extended summer riots didn't help.
And it's possible ammo will be worse in 7 months than it is now, it sure as **** won't be anywhere good yet

If it was that easy for manufacturers to increase production, they would do it and we would literally never have shortages. We already discussed this a couple weeks ago. Myself and another who are in manufacturing detailed this then. It requires a tremendous amount of resources, money, and overhead to increase production. It's not that easy. And no, they're not maintaining current levels simply because they're charging more. They are 100% making less money with ammo scarcity at a high cost than they would if it was plentiful at standard market rates. I guarantee it.
I painfully get aspects of the manufacturing business, and coast associated.
A few ambitious savvy ones could very well, and my guess will.
Without going into wall of text detailing, my thoughts still cliffs on the perfect storm we are in now of,
-Available us of manufacturing accelerated depreciation, and maximum exploitation of section 179- even the doesn't need to be new or self-constructed equipment parts.
-Easy availability of debt at a low cost- extended over a long period of time, which can itself become part of a future acceleration.
-Exploitation of the cares act- available forgivable loans that may become de-facto grants.
Also, I completely understand you can't just suddenly chit out the ability to produce more.

The training business must be hurting. There can’t be a lot of sign-ups for two-day classes that burn hundreds of rounds an hour.

Maybe,If a manufacturing company wants to take advantage of TCJA stipulations that completely expire in 2027- however start to tapper expire in 2023- they need to do it sooner than later- and for the same reasons resulting from elections- that business tax regulations cost and tax aids I noted will certainly not be extended- and may even end sooner.

If manufacture chooses to retool and expand a component of operation- they may tend
to steer away from items that may be regulated more, and expand one that likely won't
I think semi-autos are in threat, magazines are in threat, armor is in threat- I don't think most ammo is.
What they can't do is a risk re toll expansion one something they may not use later- as if they would have to pay a recaptured depreciation for the prior deduction.
The payroll opportunity with the cares act is even a bigger potiental help.

This is clearly your first experience with a banic. This situation is not new. It is a cyclic repeat, it is predictable, it was predicted, and it's lasting a lot longer than 7 months

First board meeting of the year- chairmen "well fuk Dems won congrees, what do?"
exec "Well we better take advantage of any tax-saving before they go away"
other exec "yea, we need to also make changes before expensive redundant regulations are put back in place"
Then they go about reviewing things they may go ahead in do now in hasty anticipation of being more costly later- add in a current definitive revenue stream to actually deduct from this year- and bam- easy anwer.
Edit:
part of my reasoning why I say in economic arguments - don't expect the economy to immediately tank in Biden's first year and a half. Businesses are chasing for taking advantage of tax stuff while they can.
Also, I'm pretty sure past bandemics didn't have TCJA assicated with the,

As long as Dems control the presidency, the senate and the house . . . ammo prices are going to be potato. So there's a couple years til the next chance for that to change rolls around.
If you weren't hoarding during the early years of the Trump admin, you goofed.

I wonder if any company will be savvy enough to hit the short window , use retroactive for production that will be in place by the end of this year however contracted prior to January 1?

AMMO, Inc. Announces Plans to Construct a $12 Million Plant, Tripling its Manufacturing Footprint in Wisconsin
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Jan. 05, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- AMMO, Inc. (Nasdaq: POWW ) (“AMMO” or the “Company”), a premier American ammunition and munition components manufacturer and technology leader, has entered into a term sheet with the City of Manitowoc, Wisconsin to acquire in excess of 35 acres in the Manitowoc Industrial Park (“MIP”) for the purpose of constructing an expanded loaded ammunition and brass casing manufacturing plant.
In conjunction with its Payson, Arizona based ammunition loading operation, the Company currently operates in Wisconsin in an approximate 50,000 sq. ft. leased facility situated in the MIP where its JMC brass manufacturing business, military-grade ammunition development and supporting loading operations reside. Following the City Council’s unanimous approval at last evening’s meeting, AMMO will now work with Mayor Justin Nickels and his team to prepare the definitive Development Agreement to consummate the transaction which is founded upon seven figures in incentives tied to substantial job growth and development of the world-class plant. AMMO’s current plans call for constructing a best-in-class $12 million (est.), 160,000 sq. ft. facility on the site to be fully operational in the Summer of 2022. AMMO’s newly minted cutting-edge facility will support the Company’s plan to exponentially expand its manufacturing base of operations in the heart of the US, ensuring it is best positioned from a facilities and location perspective to serve the entire US and its overseas customer base. AMMO anticipates opening the new plant with approximately 150 employees, expecting to increase its workforce over the following 18-24 months and beyond.
“This new state-of-the-art plant will strengthen AMMO’s laser focus on designing and manufacturing premium products for the commercial, military, law enforcement and overseas markets,” said Fred Wagenhals, AMMO’s Chairman and CEO. Mr. Wagenhals also noted that “Mayor Justin Nickels, his staff and the entire Council have demonstrated a can-do approach to supporting business and manufacturing growth in their community, providing a platform for AMMO to be a significant employer in the area, poised for continued growth in the months and years to come.”
“We are excited AMMO has selected Manitowoc to expand its manufacturing operations, bringing excellent paying jobs that will make a difference in our community.” “We look forward to developing a strong partnership with the AMMO team – a partnership which we believe will lead to future growth down the road and further solidify Manitowoc as a manufacturing hub for many different industries,” said Mayor Nickels.

AMMO Sets New Company Record in Orders Shipped While Recordingan Increased $180 Million Backlog of Booked Orders for the Fiscal Third Quarter
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz, Feb. 04, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- AMMO, Inc. (Nasdaq: POWW ) (“AMMO” or the “Company”), a premier American ammunition and munition components manufacturer and technology leader, has reported a 256% year-over-year increase in orders shipped, as it works around the clock to fulfill booked orders which have now increased to a record setting $180 million as of February 1, 2021.
“We continue to strategically and effectively increase our order intake, manufacturing and shipping capacity in an effort to address the continuing escalating demand being received across all channels, as our record backlog continues to grow,” said Fred Wagenhals, AMMO’s Chairman and CEO. “We are now seeing global demand for loaded ammunition and components increase, and we continue to add new key retail distribution customers such as BIG 5 and Midsouth Shooters Supply and others. We see strong demand through all of 2021 and continue into 2022 for the US Commercial Market,” said Mr. Wagenhals.
AMMO will address its record-breaking revenue results and industry outlook during the Company’s February 16th earnings call.

Shares of Ammo (NASDAQ:POWW) closed 13.7% higher on Tuesday after the ammunition manufacturer announced the resumption of production on a manufacturing line for "improved" .50 caliber ammunition.
Production will be at the Jagemann Munition Components plant that Ammo acquired as part of its March 2019 acquisition of Jagemann.
So what
Ordinarily, this would sound like a rather ho-hum announcement, but Ammo noted that the reason it is restarting production is "to address increased market demand and fulfill current orders" -- which suggests that restarting production will be accompanied by increasing sales. Further reinforcing this thesis, Ammo said it has been receiving "increasing indications of export interest from abroad."
In that regard, late last month Ammo noted that it had won a "significant" ammunition export contract from an unnamed foreign buyer.
Now what
Ammo management further commented that "2021 has started off to be a great year for AMMO." Over the past 12 months, Ammo generated total sales of only $27.3 million. But the company says its .50 caliber production line alone should generate a minimum of $40 million in annual revenue "at current production levels," and if production is increased, revenue could exceed $80 million -- nearly triple current levels from a single product line.

And if the entire thing tanks the major players still win.
Look at the example I posted a few weeks ago of how our company can upscale- then tank/ with intentions and do so.
But that won’t happen- they are working on existing contractual demand -it’s an easy play,
And as I stated before in certain coding- they will have the revenue stream to actually the deduct from- and as arrangements were made prior or in the window of dates they can do some retroactive deducting.
We are in a perfect storm of available revenue - and everyone is on a short clock for massive upscale exploit the various tax advantages I previously mentioned.- with an imminent threat for the tax advantage to disappear.
It’s only gonna take a few savvy ambitious companies to pivot pricing.
This current business reality [A collision of temporary financing measures , temporary tax measures, cares act, etc] we are in hasn’t existed and prior events.

Chase, so they're selling to fedgov? Are those contracts already in place or are they avoiding dependency on consumer market some other way?

Another I.e
Ammo (NASDAQ:POWW) continued to pop off on Tuesday, the first trading day of this week -- and the second day since Ammo announced that it has won a contract to supply a "significant" amount of ammunition to a foreign buyer.
As of 2:45 p.m. EST today, Ammo stock is up 5%, adding to the 1.9% gain it enjoyed the day after the contract was announced.
So what
On Thursday last week, Ammo informed investors that "it has entered into a significant international transaction involving 7.62 mm ammunition." No specific value was ascribed to the contract, however, nor did management state how long the contract will be in effect, or even when deliveries are to begin (or for that matter, who the buyer is).
What Ammo did say is that it is intent on "diversifying [its] business" internationally, and that "import/export markets are opening up again and we are seeing success in securing relationships."
Now what
Indeed, Ammo noted that it thinks it "reasonable" to expect it will win "many more" similar international contracts "in the coming months," which may explain investors' enthusiasm over a contract announcement which had, really, very few details revealed about it.

The game works from various lobbying efforts worldwide.
They aren’t the only one that will play this.
Watch out for Dynamics Corporation, CBC Global Ammunition, Olin Corporation (Winchester). Ruag Ammotec, BAE Systems, Thales Group, Rheinmetal AG, Nexter KNDS group, Elbit Systems, Nammo AS, Orbital Atk, Vista Outdoors, FN Herstal, Rosoboronexport, imi , etc....

If you want to zero a scope without using mirrors, ghost reticles, or pre-algebra, just get a decent FFP scope with a decent reticle (no v-plex pls). SFP also works, but know at which magnification your sub tensions are correct.
Shoot once at 25 yards. Look through your scope and count the MOA/MIL on the reticle between the point of aim and the point of impact, dial it in on the turrets. Shoot again to make sure you didn't get it backwards. Now you're boresighted. Rinse and repeat at whatever yardage you want to zero.
It doesn't have to be complicated unless you want it to be.

Just reading some more industry news- vista outdoors has over $1 billion dollars in existing orders.
Their major problems (same labor one I have) shortage on labor supply, training times, and raws.
The have enough facility capacity already.
Raws are just starting to slowly come back online - and coin shortage surge impacting is starting to be fulfilled.
Labor could be an issue if the new bill carries extended unemployment to October.

Wilson Combat frame module for the X-Compact arrived yesterday. I like it a lot. I had no complaints with the original x-frame, but aesthetically, the WC one looks damn good, and I like the fde 2-tone.
Feel is just slightly different, but 2 of the really great things about it is the slightly internal flared magwell, and the little indent at the mag release button. I also installed the tungsten weights, plus the 1oz mag base plate, it definitely feesl heavier.
