Oncor has given up. It’s clear they have no idea what to do. They’ve admitted rolling outages haven’t worked. It’s basically a sh*t show survival of the fittest for the next week

Reading reports that Tuesday is expected to be the same as yesterday (aka a complete outage for many)

And then we get hit again tonight which means tomorrow will be 0 power.

Only had power for 4 hours over the past 31 hours myself.

RIP brahs gonna be a long week to Saturday when temps are back above freezing

Oncor basically saying f*ck it lol:

"One day I won't be able to lift any more. Not I won't want to lift. I mean physically unable. That day could be decades from now or it could be tomorrow. All I know is that's the day I'll wish I could lift more than ever. The day I'd give anything for one more workout, one more set, or one more cardio session. So go hard and enjoy every workout, every set, every rep. Because one day you will wake up and you will never get it back."

Still no power at my house, had to have my wife and kids stay at my mom's house. She's miraculously had power the entire time. Fort Worth is now reporting water main damage and has issued a boil water order since the treatment plant sht the bed. Luckily my area isn't affected by that.

Well, I assume it's mostly heatpumps(which handle the AC and heating depending on the direction of refrigerant flow) which are IDEAL for that region. With that said your SOL if you lose power though. Honestly, a good hardwired generator makes a lot of sense but they're not cheap. I bet generator sales spike as a result of this ordeal. I know if I was a contractor selling them I would be advertising the **** out of them in the coming weeks.

That sounds messed up and some horrible management by authorities. We would have riots here if electricity was gone for more than a few hours.

Man sure would be nice to have some new gen nuclear power plants eh? IIRC they can significantly up their power production for situations like this.

I'm sorry to hear you all going through such a rough period. It certainly makes you appreciate what you have in your life. Stay safe and strong brahs. I also hope the authorities learn from this and take measures to have a proper backup if this ever happens again.

Honestly do hotels even have power? I can see one from my apartment and it does not look like it has power. I'm sure some of them do but I don't even think there's a guarantee you'll have power from them.[/QUOTE)

I think some hotels are probably down too which could explain having such a tough time finding one.

This one is farther than I would prefer to drive right now, but it is a newer build right next to city hall and the PD. I'm hoping hospitals and munis get some priority.

ETA: one of my biggest dislikes about this house is that it doesn't have gas service. I much prefer a gas stove and the heat pump is old. My brother peeked in the attic last night because the heat pump wasn't working, blowing cold air.Says there is a lot of snow in the attic. We were using space heaters, but so much for that.
Is this for real? Probably need to address that, could be a mold problem waiting to happen when it melts.

No power since 5pm last night til it flipped back on for me for an hour and a half this AM in Plano before shutting out again. I don’t expect power for the rest of the day.

Enough time to charge phone, make food and do some basic things. We are really giving the 3rd world a run for its money even the fukkin favelas/slums have power JFL.

Also to Floridians you guys get peppered with hurricanes all the time so don’t pretend like your chit don’t stink, *******s!

Something about lower power supply (turbines frozen, colder coal burns less quickly) and then massive demand for heat which if you have electric based heat is not efficient consumes a lot of power.

To save the grid from going down they are trying to cycle blackouts but that’s been really hit or miss for us. I’ll have power maybe 3 hours per 24 hours probably thru the rest of the week sucks ass 40F inside the house without power srs

Anyone who can't get to some place warm:

Lots of clothes and lots of blankets.

When it's super cold here I'm wearing like 3 pairs of pants, 3 shirts, winter coat, hat, scarf, gloves.

By 3 pants and shirts meaning 2 pairs of thermals with regular pants and a hooded sweater over.

If you don't have proper boots then I'd also suggest wearing 2-3 pairs of socks.

That plus a nice big thick blanket wrapped around you several times will get you through the night.
The billionaire and the beggar both have 24 hours in a day.

That's why grandma's apple pie rocks and yours sucks.
