A complete POS to be honest, but works very well.

A buddy burned out the element in a Bradley smoker years ago. I replaced all the grates with stainless mesh I had, and put a thrift store hot plate in with a stainless dog bowl in it to hold the alder chips.

Works great, and cost 5 bucks for the hot plate. haha

I can start that. I have a lifetime of photos if I don't happen to get out one weekend.

I will also update it with videos once my youtube channel is up and going. (still learning how to film. Not as easy as it seems)

You guys are great, btw.

Thanks RR. The big ones are nice, but I can appreciate the small stuff too. It was just a nice, clean perfect fish.

I appreciate the outdoors and the things I am lucky enough to do so much, and try to have great respect for all things.

Since starting filming I am really struggling to portray that on camera, but it will come.

I will start a thread and post as much as possible. Thanks to everyone for wanting to see more.

As in barehand catfishing? No. Our water is too clear.

plus, we don't get those big catfish. We have some small brown bullheads, but thats about it.

Wrong environment really, but it does sound like fun!

That makes sense, and clear water would really take the fun out of the "moccasin den or catfish hole" part that makes it so thrilling. It's a good time but haven't done it in years.

Very nice fish OP.

Your post got me digging through my errata looking for a post I saved about trapping way back around the last big economic downturn. Didn't find it. Found a good link about hugelkultur though.

https://richsoil.com/hugelkultur/

And y'all just think I posts walls of text now. Found an old bit of convo w/a guy that was promoting the idea of housing as a public utility to be managed and provided by the government from around the same time.

Spoiler!

The four furry things he caught are called "fishers." Kinda like a wolverine as he says in the OP.

In for video series. The only trapping I've ever done was as a kid, my buddy liked to trap birds in those long boxy-looking wire mesh cages with a door at each end.
Then he'd put a bread wrapper around their leg and he could tell which ones kept coming back.
Pretty fun but larger game would be better, I'm sure.

Wolves are fun, but dont think I will have time this year.

Videos will be my outdoor adventures in general. trapping, hunting, fishing, winter camping...hel, even boating and jet ski exploring.

I think variety will be refreshing if I can figure out:

-how to not sound like a boob on screen
-how to edit videos and make something cool.

I have tons of episode themes in mind.

Have to see where it takes me.

Do it. Even if you sound like a boob who cares. Nobody starts knowing everything anyway and you'll pick up tricks and better ways as you go.
