I picked all very bad choices boyo, not meant to glorify it.

Also, your friend volunteered(was not forced to go). Sounds like he did multiple tours meaning after he deployed he renlisted to go again. The harsh truth is most soldiers want to deploy, and after deployments, want to go back. Combat is a huge rush for many people (like crack *******). The Garrison life and boredom causes more suicides in my opinion.

Was already in Iraq, (Mosul). Honestly nothing prior to the Vietnam just due to lack of medical support, and it not being supportive of African Americans.

Women were off limits. Actually had a very good looking one that would come on the FOB to work but had to do it in secrecy. Ended up getting killed close to the end of my deployment. srs

This so much. Feel proud to have served and gone there but at the same time, feel meh about being involved in one of the most pointless wars ever, based on an unfounded premise, only for the Afghan Army to be immediately overrun and cease control of all the places we secured and handed over.

That's why I keep saying it was an illegal war, and we should never have gone. We also shouldn't have gone to Vietnam or Iraq. Our country has this idiotic idea that we can just beat states into submission. We also don't seem to value the lives of our troops at all. It's just dumb as hell. If you're going to have a war, you need support to win quickly and efficiently. I'm not even sure we ever really had an endgame for our strategy in the Middle East. WTF does winning look like? Do you think all these muslim nations are going to magically become Christian capitalist societies? Are we gonna open factories over there or some chit? What is the endgame? What is the plan? All the war on terror did was create more fuking enemies to deal with.

The more cynical view is that we fight for the sake of fighting because we have many powerful incentives to keep funding military and "defense" activities -- that there is no endgame -- that your life and the lives of your friends were carelessly thrown away as pawns for an agenda to secure money and power for some chitbags.

Hard to disagree with any of that to be honest. Pretty much sums up my view on it.

afghan war actually had a somewhat legit premise (destroy whoever was harboring bin laden an al quada in the country - but morphed in a mess of nation building etc. should have just destoyed the taliban as much as possible, and once bid laden etc were dead peaced out

we nearly could have ended our combat ops there after tora bora had bin laden died then

The entire "harboring terrorist" argument makes zero sense under scrutiny. Was the US guilty of harboring the KKK? I mean what the fuk man? The Taliban didn't attack us. I want to repeat that so it sinks in for everyone. THE TALIBAN DID NOT CARRY OUT THE 9/11 TERRORIST ATTACKS. There was literally zero ground to invade Afghanistan. It was a violation of international law. Bush pulled his Emperor Palpatine "I will make it legal." bullchit and gave this garbage about harboring terrorists. We could have tried Bin Laden in Afghanistan in accordance with Afghan law. They would have fuking decapitated him. EZ. No war. No rage. Bin Laden would have made his point. And we would have had our vengeance. We could have dropped some sanctions and repaired some of the strained relations with the Muslim world. Instead, what did we do? We launched an invasion, and fought what can basically be deemed a modern day holy war. Tons of people died. Tons of people got really fuking mad. The Taliban became a sworn enemy of the US. Millions of Muslims felt a call to arms. And we created hundreds of thousands of new enemies of the Unites States.

GREAT JOB RETARDS. REALLY GOOD JOB IF YOUR GOAL IS TO REDUCE THE RISK OF TERRORISM. LET'S MAKE MORE TERRORISTS. THAT SOUNDS BRILLIANT. TRULY ONLY A STRATEGY A FUKING IDIOT FROM TEXAS WITH A C IN SPANISH CLASS COULD REALLY HAVE THE PROFOUND VISION TO EXECUTE. MAGNIFICENT JOB!

Fuking idiots seriously.

OH and btw, they even eventually caved and offered to turn him in to stop the invasion. We...declined?!?!

WE DECLINED.

Look at this chit. All they did was ask for evidence. Wow. I didn't know asking for evidence merited being BOMBED. You guys think I'm joking when I say Bush is a war criminal. I'm not. I'm fuking not. Dick Cheney, Bush, Rumsfeld, and all those assclowns should be tried at the Hague.

It’s funny looking back on it, Bin Laden was killed 3 weeks in to my basic training. I didn’t go to Afghanistan for another year after.

The middle east wars are orders of magnitude safer and more comfortable than the others.

The amount of disingenuous content in this post is impressive even for Losercel. While Bush/Cheney botched everything and are complete kunts, the Taliban didn't need proof of anything they knew Al Qunta was responsible for 9/11 and shielded them from the US and in general supported their terrorist goals and means, as did their neighbor Pakistan. We should've stayed out of Iraq and just focused on kicking the shit out of the terrorist group and ultimately the governments (Paki/Afghani) responsible for 9/11. But there isn't much oil in Afghanistan and now it's a Forever War. Oh well.

BTW, you're still an irrelevant pussy.

None lol. Who would willingly go to war for 0 reward besides e-thug miscers? All I'll say is of these wars, WW2 is the only one I'd ever get behind as a reason to go to war. That said, the misc has a better chance of being majority Chad posters than someone coming out of the first few waves of the beach landing at Omaha alive, so no thanks, Jeff.
