~1 in 600 Americans has died from Coronavirus. That's vastly more common than lightning strikes.
EDIT:
Data is here:
https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/...-us-cases.html
1 / ( 524,000 COVID deaths / 331,000,000 American ) = 1 in 631 Americans have died from COVID. It's ~1 in 400 in some of the Northeaster states, unfortunately.

The flu comes and goes quickly in most people but COVID just drags on and on. So the old farts take up hospital beds and ICU beds and never leave and next think you know you have ambulances driving around for six hours looking for an ED to dump a new non-COVID patient at as happened in LA this winter.if you're 300lbs or 300 years old, dat dere china virus is gonna nuke you

You'll get there.

The 1 in 600 stat is just fearmongering. Does it make you more scared to know that 1 in 117 Americans have died? What about 1 in 531 Americans have died from heart disease?
Leading deaths 2019
Total: 2,046,000
Heart disease: 659,041
Cancer: 599,601
Accidents (unintentional injuries): 173,040
Chronic lower respiratory diseases: 156,979
Stroke (cerebrovascular diseases): 150,005
Alzheimer’s disease: 121,499
Diabetes: 87,647
Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, and nephrosis: 51,565
Influenza and pneumonia: 49,783
COVID-19: 0 (assumed zero for simplicity)
"94% of people who died from COVID-19 in the U.S. had contributing health conditions"
- CDC
Leading deaths 2020 (estimated, source: me)
Total: 2,359,000
Heart disease: 586k
COVID-19: 524k
Cancer: 533k
Accidents (unintentional injuries): 173k
Chronic lower respiratory diseases: 138k
Stroke (cerebrovascular diseases): 133k
Alzheimer’s disease: 107k
Diabetes: 77k
Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, and nephrosis: 45k
Influenza and pneumonia: 43k
In summary, 300k more deaths than usual, a 10% increase, where most of the new deaths were just accelerated cases of already dying people.
