Age is the biggest risk factor, plus obesity & metabolic syndrome. That's true. Sadly, the world is filled with fat people and old people and the nasty thing with COVID is that once you're sick enough to get admitted to the hospital, you sit there and rot for weeks on end. The flu comes and goes quickly in most people but COVID just drags on and on. So the old farts take up hospital beds and ICU beds and never leave and next think you know you have ambulances driving around for six hours looking for an ED to dump a new non-COVID patient at as happened in LA this winter.

Bro do you even math? The death rate in other conditions are down because of this. Total deaths have not changed by absurd amounts as this "1 in 600" stat implies.

1 in 600 Americans were diagnosed with COVID and their death was attributed to COVID by their medical doctors. It's a demonstrable fact. And some math.

Do they account for comorbidity? I literally don't care if someone is limping along life with medication and machines keeping them from dying until COVID finishes them off. Disease is part and parcel of living in a big city, don't like it, then hide inside for the rest of your life.

The 1 in 600 stat is just fearmongering. Does it make you more scared to know that 1 in 117 Americans have died? What about 1 in 531 Americans have died from heart disease?
