This doesn't happen in other countries nearly as much. We have a fuking issue. Too many people die over trivial things.
I agree that it is unfortunate that she escalated the situation the way she did. I understand your empathy but it doesn't negate the facts. You should concern yourself with discernment when looking at these. She could be 100% at fault and you can still feel the situation is tragic.

That is how I feel about it. At no point did I say this wasn't "her fault". My issue is with the system that creates these ridiculous situations. Feel bad for the officer as well. Dude was just trying to do his job and definitely wasn't out for blood. Officer is stable now at least.

Felony warrant for car owner was the primer (cause we can/should agree on)

Does the officer have no obligation to inquire about the whereabouts of the offender?

Do the people of the state who essentially voted for the laws of the state not have a say?

I actually agree with the laws being bad regarding drugs. I think they should all be legal, regulated, and bought under tax stamp. BUT that isn't so. The people have not made it a reality.

The laws do not create the situations. People either choose to act civilly or to be violent towards law enforcement. There is no magical or mythical circumstances that makes anyone act violently based off of a petty crime or ordinance.

Well for this situation, the first place to look at is why drugs are criminalized in this way. Why do people face jail and not rehab for drug use? Another issue is just the nature of force in this country. It went from zero to taze to guns in under 10 s. That is not ok. Honestly, he could have let the bitch run. He had her plates and she doesn't look like a serial killer or something. She wasn't some hardened criminal. Just a terrified woman. Why do we care so god damn much? This is the police state. You don't see it because you've become so used to it. Our system seems almost designed to escalate. The moment anyone panics or flees, even for the most trivial offenses, it's a green light to escalate. Why? Escalation is incredibly destabilizing for our society.

I realize the officer was just following protocol. But why is it crucial to taze someone and escalate force if they flee and it isn't a violent felony? I can understand the pressing need to stop a suspected murderer. I do not understand the pressing need to taze this terrified, fat woman. Sorry, I just don't. Our system is fuking broken. Our laws did create this situation. We build our laws assuming everyone is rational when these rules predictably fail over and over again.

Yea, we would have cops that are actually helpful and aren’t to be avoided, even by law abiding citizens - like most other first world countries.

?? How does a more lax policy toward drug addicts affect my safety? Am I more safe when we throw kids in prison and train them to become gangsters or less safe? Is society more or less stable when we lock up so many people over drug offenses? You yourself said you think we need to deal with drugs differently. We need drug courts and rehab. It shouldn't be like this.

People like me? Go ahead and spell it out. I have no idea wtf ur talking about. Srs.

Whenever I deal with a cop, I know I'm literally seconds from getting shot if something goes wrong. It's just a stupid situation.

All true. But we need to treat drugs differently somehow and look at why we choose to taze people for nonviolent crimes. The system is designed to escalate. It's not productive.

Your position on letting anyone flee from law enforcement.

People like you: incel weakling that talks chit on a gay bodybuilding forum. You're not ready for survival of the fittest.

Yes if attacked, an officer will use any means possible to win the fight. Self defense is a thing here in America. So do you often think about attacking a losing a fight with a cop? Because that's how you get shot. There are statistics you self proclaimed man of science. Must be internet videos.

Not just anyone. I'm for letting people flee over petty offenses. There is no social utility added in stopping her from fleeing there. Zero. She didn't attack until after she was TAZED, guy.

I will ignore your comments calling me weak. Your understanding of math and science is over 400 years out of date. How fuking pathetic and weak is that? You aren't even a person at that point...

The officer had every reason to fight back, but when he drew the tazer, he escalated it. He was following protocol, but it's fuked that that is the protocol.

I would agree with this, I mean run them down (that requires the officer not to be the size of a house) but there just isn’t a need to get a taser out, or even a gun for a little weed.

If this kind of chit keeps happening, black people are going to be so scared of cops that they will just shoot them the moment they think they will be arrested. We need to really look at the nature of force here. He really didn't need to cuff her right then. All of this could have been avoided. And idk why he couldn't just keep her detained in a civil manner until backup arrived.

What is dumb is she was being arrested over some weed. She lost her life over some fking weed man.

Dude the firearm wasn't even the issue. The officer tazed her because she tried to flee from a drug charge. I'm saying this is absurd. You think this is perfectly OK. You don't see how this is the police state.

There's no pressing need to taze someone fleeing for a drug charge. Jesus Christ.

Drugs should not carry jail time. We should be putting these people in rehab, not jail.

Drugs are a mental health issue.

You serious? So if it is a non-violent crime people should just be able to do whatever they want?

If that precedent is set, how would anybody catch drug traffickers? Everybody would just flee. (Can't believe I even have to type that out, do you libs not even think beyond your irrational emotions? Incapable of assessing risk?)

Do you know how much violent crime drug distribution causes? Do you realize how many black people lose their lives every year murdering eachother much more violently than this over drug distrubtion?

Think beyond your emotions for a moment.

This is a very slippery slope though, unless you mean they shouldn't run them down if they already have all their information.

Brb steal from a store (non violent crime)
Brb if I see a cop all I have to do is drop the stuff and I'm free to run away

Brb cops find drugs on me
brb I'm free to run away and reup to keep slinging that chit

Then what, go to her house, risk entering an unfamiliar situation where she is prepared moreso to fire at the police?

Then they show up at the house, and then your claim will be 'Why didn't they just come back later when she was in a better mood.' When does it end?

Why is the onus to act like a civilized person never on the criminal?

Isn't a threat? She fuking shot a cop?
