Any Southern Italian that is in denial of having African traits, as well as Arab traits is full retard. The Moors conquered Sicily, and occupied it as a port. They were also Muslim and created a huge Muslim community in Sicily, who were eventually kicked out and sold as slaves. However you also had the Ottoman Empire taking over a lot of the Mediterranean as well. So you had many European refuges, migrate to Sicily and Southern Italy to escape religious persecution, because they didn't want to become Muslim.
Most of Southern Europe in itself is a melting pot of this, not just Italy. It's also why Northern Italians, don't like Southern Italians. People mistaken me as Hispanic or Arabic all the time, even though I'm "white". It's only benefited me to be honest, because most women find me exotic looking and they love that. Not insecure about this at all, it's very interesting history to be honest. I even been to Europe, and a woman stopped me to talk to me when she noticed I was American. She was explaining the history a little, and was very fascinated to see how "Mediterranean" I looked.
