Checkerboarding looks great to me in action. Perhaps it's my old eyes but I'd guess most people would find it tough to tell the difference between checkerboarding and full 4k unless they are on a 200" screen or smashing their face against the screen to examine pixels.

No, it does look great. It's a very smart technique. And it makes sense that the higher the frame rate, the less noticeable the checkerboarding will be (since every frame the checkerboard changes). So 60fps games are great games to implement checkerboarding imo.

finished the game last night. 9/10 for me and it would have been a 9.5 if not for the first 8 hours of the game and some bad dialogue at times

the cutscene that you get with o'brien after the end of the main story was distrubing AF. the music, his eyes and voice, deek's reaction, o'brien jumping onto the chopper
... i need the sequel now

Would take checkerboarding over full 4k for higher FPS every single time

Yea, I am convinced early low reviews were rushed to meet deadlines were written before the reviewer got too far in the game. 9/10 easily for me.

Can't wait for sequel.

No we know exactly what happened. Early reviews were based off of the "gold" build, which apparently suffered from poor optimization, game-stopping bugs, and faulty AI & physics. Hence the low review scores.
The game then received a huge launch day pass that fixed EVERYTHING.


So there you go. Honestly cites like IGN etc should all go back and re-review it, as the version they played is wildly different from the version we the consumers played.

I mean you are right. That is a big part of it. I didn't play the game at launch and have no idea how buggy it was. But I was referring to how reviews described that gameplay and I am certain some of those early reviews never played past the 10 hour mark with how they described it.

Is it ok if I skip all the cutscenes I never care about that stuff in sp games

And if I do I’ll just rewatch it later on YouTube

I mean it is a shame how underrated the game is based upon scores but IMO the game should have been delayed again to fix issues, or they should have not given out early broken copies to reviewers. Reviewers can only review what they are given.

I downloaded Days Gone seeing as it's free with the PS5 and I phucking love it. I'm probably half way through but yeah tis awesome. This game should of come with co-op, 2 bikers riding about taking out hordes n shet be cool.

I ain't much of a single player dude either, I only play the big ones(GTA, RDR) but I'm trying to get back in to them as pretty much skipped them on PS4.

Been playing. Made it to The army camp and the game got so fuking hard. Like big ass zombies instead of the smaller ones. Huge bears and wolves hunting me non stop. I’m about to quit playing, I’m dying like 3 times a mission now. Anyone else get this? Anyway to kill these things easier? I think the mutant wolves take 3-4 shots from my shotgun now and the mutant bears, I just run now or I’m dead.

Edit. Thought I beat the game after riding over the snow mountains then it puts me in this hell world where I’m emptying my ammo before even getting to a mission

I beat the game on Survival Mode and don't consider myself that great at videogames. Animals should be very rare encounters, avoid them, or get high ground they can't get to you at, or shoot from your bike.

- buy an ammo satchel for your bike

- refill ammo at camps often

- upgrade your focus at nero sites

- buy weapons from the new camps. the best ones you find will be there. the semi auto sniper is the best gun in the gane imo

- the zombje wolves die much more quickly if you shoot them from your bike

i agree, days gone is a great game. i played it through multiple times and thoroughly enjoyed it. GTA5 is a bigger game with more to do. plus you can buy all kinds of sh_t, like properties, and trick out your guns and stolen sports cars. days gone doesnt have that glitzy materialistic aspect but it is a great game, under appreciated and worth playing.

all of this, you need to level up your character. spend time sneak attacking freaks and collecting ears for bounties. also go to tuckers camp, turn your bounties in here to gain trust and get access to the guns there. get grenades and use them to kill hordes during the day when theyre sleeping. sneak up on them in the caves and frag them, then run away and when the freaks turn back to go into the caves, slowly pick them off with your rifle. always pick up the bounties

and youl save alot of credits if you upgrade your bike to carry more ammo and only ever refill your bike ammo
