I think I would have picked Boise though, but I'm biased.

Last I heard/read, that valley was growing at some crazy rate of 40k people per year. And, like clockwork, the housing market up there is on fire because of it.

Good Luck TBO. I just sold my old truck to the Range Rover / Jaguar dealer in town. I did that Kelley Blue Book instant cash offer service. I sold it for $5k more than what I was offered on trade at the Chevy dealership.
I put the Idaho base on the list but realistically, I don't think I'll get it. The base is about an hour south of Boise. I did look at some things around there and I think I'd survive there just fine. The thing about this point in my career is the next job is going to be temporary. If I get California, I'm gonna do my best to milk the chit out of it by doing all the biking, fishing, hiking, camping and sight seeing I possibly can. I am NOT giving up my Florida residency though. I like NOT paying state taxes.

Why would anyone want to live in place that is growing that fast? Or in the city at all, I guess..

Had a time out on the property on Sunday. We are trying to get as much wood split ahead of the bugs as we can So Matt was cutting and I was chopping. Fukkin middle chop, my vag blasted my tampon out like a damn cannon. It was annoying because I had to walk home after but also hilarious.

TX, those pics look glorious and peaceful. Glad you got a break.

Hahahaha, ok but you put that image in your head. All I did was set the scene. I was wearing black short shorts. In case you wanted more detail. It was really hot out.

I found all kinds of other cool and creepy stuff on the property that day too. The water is lower so I can see into the pond more and someone made a square of about 6’ or more lengths of wood and it’s covered in pretty big rocks. Freaked me right out, because there is something under it that they clearly want kept under water. Dead bodies and tampon cannons. That’s my life.

So far lilj is winning.

So I filed a hail claim on my car
Came, back 3.3k worth of damage , said they are issuing payment
I’m thinking , great, I’ll take the 3k and throw it against the 6k roof deductible
Insurance carrier issued the payment directly to the collision center ffs
Now I asked them if I can use a different one, hoping they will issue payment directly to me

Yeah that's irritating. They act like they don't want you keeping the money, but the collision center can over assess and then find ways to cut cost.

I filed a claim for our car, but not doing one for the roof. My aluminum body truck ended up paying off being a bit more flexible. No dents.

Do you guys get hammered on car insurance rates? Seems like just the weather damage there could cause higher rates.

California actually has way worse rates if you have good credit. A while back actuaries found out that your credit rating is a better predictor of whether you'll be involved in an at fault accident than any other metric including your driving record. California made a law where you can't use credit rating to determine rates so now all the good credit Californians are subsidizing the bad credit ones. Texas rates are generally really cheap. Louisiana and Mississippi have really high rates due to the amount of lawsuits and juries in certain parts of those states give certain claimants whatever they ask for. They always get overturned but it is expensive to take stuff through the appeal process

Where I'm at credit wasn't a factor on rates until about 5 years ago. Really noticed a difference a year or two later as they rolled it out. Now there's all sorts of conditions, we had a long time tradie buy a second car, something like a 96 F150 with just liability and it cost him just as much as I've seen a new one go for w/full coverage, but within the same category as he was before. I can tell they're still working out the kinks on that b/c some people have really jacked up rates.
