Did your life improve after moving out of your parents house?
Late 20s
Can afford to rent
Not sure if I can afford to buy a house
Feel like I’m not as independent as I should be an this is effecting my own self confidence and my ability to sustain romantic relationships.
Wanted to get thé miscs thoughts on whether their life improved since moving out

My family is toxic as hell. but i can't afford to move out yet. Do it when you're ready and have a good job. But when you do, i'm sure it's a huge improvement.

My finances are pretty good, make 75k+ /year.
Could probably afford a down payment but would be house poor.

Define “improve” OP...

Honestly if my parents weren't so annoying and the house was bigger I wouldn't have left so soon.

Women will crawl all over you if they know you board horses and by the time it pays itself off, the property will probably be worth quite a bit more than what you bought it for.
Seriously, stay at your parents and save money if your relationship with them is good. You really don't want the kind of femal who wouldn't want to be around your parents anyway.

Could always buy the condo and rent it to people while you live at home. At least then when you find a reason to move, you'll have something ready within a year.

I noticed when I travel by myself , or when my family is gone I’m a much more confident and action oriented person. But when I’m at home and family is around I feel significantly more passive and just “along for the ride”

I'm about to move out again and it made me mature quite a bit. Instinctively I thought it didn't do chit for me but as I look back I see that most of my progress in my studies came after I moved out. I don't know if it gave me new motivation or what it did but I used to slack off in high school and post high school I took some chemistry classes and failed those horribly. However when I moved out I really decided to get my chit together. I'm soon starting my third semester in a top college.
Excuse my crappy english it's not my first language lol.

Definitely, more freedom and the ability to direct my own life. I've made mistakes and learned from them, but I was always free to make those mistakes. The main benefits were freedom, agency, and privacy. You can rent a decent place and still save, you can also mortgage a property in bad condition.
The idea of needing a home loan was something marketed to WWII veterans. The marketing campaign was to pay a lower monthly payment and eventually own the property, but the flipside is that you are locked into a very large amount of debt with sometimes extreme interest in case of longer term loans. One option isn't necessarily better than the other.
If you can pay rent, you can get financing for a home loan one way or another. Some loans don't even require deposits. You can also rent til you die. The monthly payment all depends on the value of the property, and each option gives you different legal rights.
However, I wouldn't look down on someone if they lived with their parents for a long time. In some cultures this is normal.

I got kicked out when I was 18, figured out it takes money to have a life and started my own tradie business. I thank my parents for doing that for me because it taught me to be self reliable.
I don’t plan on doing this with my two sons though, they can live at home as long as they want on the condition they are being productive.

Independence, no ‘rules’, smash and chill with birds, peace and quiet, etc etc.
Needless to say, if you start dating a female and you still live at home(in your late 20s+)… you can forget it lol.

It was great moving out, getting my own condo. I loved it.
Soon afterwards I did become really sick though so in some respects it wasn't the great liberating experience for me.

In the same situation. My plan was stay here for a bir longer and save to buy, but I'm losing patience and may just rent. Plus houses are very overvalued at the minute.
