I learned about HEX in December 2020, and listened to Richard on and off. I heard his view on the crypto market and industry, and although I respected his opinion I didn't believe it. Then I began to see that he was spot on. He is one of the few influential people in the space who says that the majority of crypto is about "number go up", and that very few projects offer anything other than "my crypto make number go up better than other crypto make number go up".
I saw that one reason why the BSC memecoins were so successful is because they disincentivized people from selling via the 'tax', and incentivized holding via the 'tax' and the token redistribution. They basically copied HEX, without the time locking component.
I was hesitant about HEX due to the Origin Address (which is obviously Richard's account),but now I don't believe that he is rug pulling.I was hopeful about the alternatives that were copies of HEX like WISE because there was no OA, but they are incompetent at marketing - in contrast Richard is brilliant at marketing.
I also highly respect his desire to help out SENS so that we can all live healthier and longer lives.

I don't think he'd rug pull because I feel like he wouldn't need to.
He retired at 25 from running his own businesses and mined bitcoin when it was mineable on just a standard PC.

Last year, everything pumped to get the Big Pay Day bonus, that's when I staked again. And then it sold off like 70%
I always advise people never to trade, but I probably will be up at least 1000x by then. So I might take some off the table right then and if it drops again, get back to the same amount of HEX I had before selling some

Mt.Gox didn't do what it did because of self-enrichment, they did what they did because they got hacked multiple times for a huge portion of their holdings. And they were trying to somehow dig themselves out of that hole... maybe, idk, who ****ing knows.
As far as I can tell, the piece is actually quite well researched and most of the facts seem reasonably straight. But many of the "if this, then that" conclusions that are generated are a huge stretch. You can't actually know the intentions of the parties involved, what the motivations were, how these systems actually work in the real world.
For example: around the 21 minute mark
It's implied that Bitfinex may have been marketselling bitcoin in order to get enough USD to get the attestation. This is a great narrative to imply that "they crashed the price of bitcoin to get enough USD to make the attestation!" My question is, they had that money already! Other customer deposits. If they were just robbing Peter to prove to Paul that they had money, why did they need to sell bitcoin? They own the exchange and all the bank accounts, there is no point for them to sell bitcoin so that they technically "own" the usd, and then buy it all back again. They own the exchange, they can just use customer deposits to do that. There's no point in moving the market, eating slippage, and potentially being underwater.
The whole Tether narrative to me is dead now that the NYAG basically dropped their case on them earlier this year, and since Coinbase is confident enough to actually list the ****in thing.
It's funny, because for years all the narrative around "brrr fake tether print more they are insolvent to print more to buy more it's all going to collapse" has sort of... fallen off now. Things are operating hot straight and normal these days, FOUR YEARS after they lost their banking partner @ Wells Fargo.
This all being said, none of this means some shady **** hasn't gone on in their history. Crypto Capital is still a black box where nobody really knows what exactly happened, along with a few other issues over the years. They did some shady **** to get off the ground and yeah, they probably almost blew up multiple times, and actually blew up in 2018 but somehow managed to stay on the right side of things.
It's a fascinating story about a crypto bank though. I wonder if in the future we'll ever hear the full story of what things really went down.
Also, by the way, at the end, he talks about how Tether is a fractional reserve because they only hold a tiny portion in actual cash, the rest is in low-risk investment vehicles. Bad news to break it to you, but I'm sure every other stablecoin's balance sheet looks exactly the same way. The entire business model around a stablecoin is to take customer deposits and invest that cash that in other places to gain yields.
And yes Tether is huge, but so is USDC, which is 40% the size of Tether. Massive stablecoins, massive deposits.

There are stable coin LPs paying 100,000% apr on polygon. Just got to hope the $1 peg doesnt break and then theres no impairement loss risk. Mark Cuban is LPing one of the coins in that ecosystem as well.

Have your gambling stack on exchanges and make your moves with that. Take profits and send BTC or ETH to cold wallet. Rinse, repeat.

The thing that FUDDERS fail to mention is how much USDC accounts for in the stablecoin market and the protocol they follow.
Conflating tether printing with price rise is also misleading. Correlation doesn't equal causation. Both would happen in a bull market due to increased trading demand.
They've also survived multiple massive drops.
