I like sprinting or jump rope. Running I get bored outside of trail running which I find GOAT.

I wouldn't run on the concrete for long periods of time.

This too. I used to train Judo and sparring with someone (especially groundwork) is crazy good cardio. Have also recently been going to my friend’s Sanda gym and legit an hour training there is way better cardio than running for an hour, plus I get to practice self-defense.

Smoke a bowl, put on some music, and go run out on a nature trail is a great thing to do on a Sunday before heading back to the wagie cage for the week.

Sanda is really fun. Just the right combo of practical and fun traditional MA. Shame it's difficult to find trainers who teach you the proper basics before the self defense stuff.

I actually agree. It’s fun, especially in colder weather. Running while taking in all the natural scents of the plants, trees.

assuming we're not talking bout the treadmill.
this is a bad excuse. if you're a beginner you don't really need water when you start out, assuming you aren't running in 90+ degree weather. when you start going longer distances like 5 miles + there are hydration products (vests, packs, bladders, etc) that solves this.

I run around 5 mi per day and have run every day since April 3rd. It's meditative. Love doing long runs and cruising on the beach boardwalk with a good audiobook.

You can run with a bladder on your back. Like a little backpack but it just holds water, carkeys, phone, emergency gear etc. Most serious runners (ie those who run more than 20k at a time) have them.

Not true. I do pilates and yoga 3-4 times a week as well as running , any potential knee issues are taken care of by the yoga exercises.

Walking is boring, takes too long to get anywhere. Swimming wrecks your hair (chlorine)

Trail running, tho, thru the native forest or around the beach is the best thing possible. Feels like an adventure and gives you the best rush. Nothing else comes close.

Most “runners” are really joggers. Which is just jogging at a 8:30 or slower pace for 40 minutes , being proud you burned calories, but overall your body still looks like chit. At best, a runner will be twink mode. But even marathon runners have no definition and an inch of skin over their entire body.

That said, I love competitions and do a several mile run 1-2x a week. Jump rope and swimming are better most days, but getting amped for a good 5 or 10k is fun. And running is useful in other sports / overall endurance. If you just lift weights and do zero cardio you really get nothing but strength. Best to do both, but majority of time lift

If you can bench 225 and run a sub 20 5k then you can do almost anything

It's scientifically known that Human beings are the best long distance runners in the animal kingdom, not sure what folks here are talking about.

Takes me 50 minutes to run/walk 3 miles. Srs. Definitely not an easy skill. That said, i want to incorporate swimming, just gotta find a spot near me.

We're also the best long distance walkers. We can kill animals just by outwalking them.
