How were the truck robberies in Fast and the Furious even profitable lol

Brb spend 10s of thousands on 3 Honda civics, with a certain paint colour and neon lights
Brb buy 10s of thousands of mods for each car

Brb truck with DVD players in the back

So they rob the truck and then need to somehow sell 100 DVD players on what, Craigslist?

In 2001 you didn't need a craigslist to sell a DVD player probably.

They weren't stealing DVD players specifically, but bunch of other electronics too. Also DVD players were pretty pricey in 2000

Oh and keep in mind this movie was expected to be straight-to-VHS/DVD release, so storyline is thin (not that it's much better in later ones either).

When people mod civics, do they replace the entire car, like engine, interior, etc.?

You can have any DVD player you want, as long as it's a Toshiba.

Pretty sure that load would probably be worth around 250k back in the day. 3- 30k civics = 90,000 invested. Hit a few trucks worth a quarter milli and profit op.

No way those 94 Civics were 30k each, even by movie standards.

Maybe pay a bit more attention to the plot line. They didn't just rob the trucks once.

funny you should ask

someone did the math

18 wheeler is 53 ft long , 8.5 ft wide, 13 ft tall

calculated one trailer could hold 4000 units

msrp of these were $500 back in 2000

so do the math they could have sold them for 50% off

4000 per truck x $250 = $1 million per one trailer heist

Engine, suspension, exhaust, body mods and then usually gut the interior for weight reduction
