gun owners, question
till i bought my recent sig i was only ever aware of the weaver stance. which of the two do you prefer?
scenarios now come to mind where i can see the other being appropriate but from an offensive posture . can someone give me a good example of how the weaver stance is inferior ?
(note- i would have named the other stance but i cant remember what its called so just left it blank)

Center axis relock
It's always funny to see people that take like a PERFECT stance on a shooting range and think that they are ready. You should be able to move, shoot from awkward positions, bring your gun in closer if you are in a closed space like a home, etc.

After you get down safety/drawing/not sweeping people take a "tactical" / advanced class where you move.
I am in a commie state and plenty of options here.
Stance shooting paper in a lane is only so useful

I've shot more isosceles in the last few years, sometimes with my head forward sometimes upright.
I'm not convinced it matters much. I've seen so many great shooters use a variety of stances. I mainly use it because it's very comfortable and makes swapping targets a breeze. The cue to bring the sights to your eyes is nice too.

Shooting IDPA & USPSA really opens your eyes to how little stance matters to a proficient pistol shooter, and how little you think about it when you're trying to move and put shots on target.

Most of the guys here have given solid advice already. It's not so much sticking to a specific stance, it's consistent mechanical movement. Shooting stances are taught to create a baseline or instill fundamentals. Train on dynamic stances while emphasizing consistent point of contact with the firearm, and you get better from there.

Try both. See which feels more natural. Both have their pro's and cons. I use whatever feels right at the time/kind of a hybrid. The idea that one is completely superior to the other is flawed.

Don’t ask misc, go to a shooting course where you’ll put thousands of rounds in variable positions.
Lifts:
Squat: 460x1
Bench: 400x1
Deadlift: 575x1
OHP: 250x2
Weight: 180 lbs.
Don't have heroes; look up to no one. Because as long as someone's leading the way, the best you'll ever be is second.

The Weaver stance is for Fudds and communists and corny people.
Isosceles is what those who know WTF they're doing do. Nobody who's anybody in the shooting world or professional training does Weaver stance anymore.
but if you've trained many times using Weaver over many years and aren't going to put in the work to train differently, then by all means keep using Weaver instead of screwing up trying something new when the SHTF.

Another tip is to practice with both eyes open. Dat dere peripheral vision & situational awareness.

You can learn the basics, but in shooting, if you put too much thought into certain aspects, you might miss and might get hurt soon after. A good example is point shooting. Close quarters, no aiming, just "feel" the shot and feel it VERY quickly. Stance under time and pressure is the same, IMO.
