depression is such a bitch

I've learnt now from struggling with depression for so long that when I'm in depressive dip, I just need to 'wait it out' and keep busy - but **** it doesn't seem to get any easier. It's just like my brain is saying "nah **** you, you're not going to enjoy **** for awhile". Sometimes I think is it really worth living when this occurs so often

Yeah what's weird is some days I wake up feeling great and clear headed but then as soon as I have to go to work depression kicks in. The smallest things can trigger it. What I don't understand is how people never get depressed. I mean I used to never feel depressed but that was a long time ago. Idk how people don't get depressed about Clown World lol. Maybe it's just a perception thing and certain neuro pathways were opened in our brains and it will never go away.

Do not drink to cope

You just gotta learn how to control those thoughts that make you feel that way.

Be healthy. Work out. And then accomplish other things. Accomplishing things makes you feel good

Socialize. Get outside. Listen to music. Get off the internet.

I’ve been going thru this since the pandemic hit. It’s a bitch

Was drinking at first and finally quit. And feel way better

Enjoy your day man. You can drop dead at anytime. Dont waste it.

Eventually you’ll meet a girl. And you’ll be aight

people always say "just start doing things and working towards something" but what they dont get is that depression is crippling mentally but also when it comes to accomplishing. it affects your mind but also in ways that drain you of willpower and the right attitude to even start going after some things, like it inhibits actual physical movement and further the attitude / willpower needed to follow through with it, whereas if you were not in that mental state, and maybe if you had more people by your side, you would have gotten 5x more done.

people talk about maslow's or whoever's hierarchy of needs with food, shelter etc being at the top but if you have crippling depression then eventually it will affect the mind and body in ways that eventually make scarce those needs that are supposedly at the top.

Thing is I just don't know what to say to people. I just want to gain knowledge of how things work and existence and all of that. People will come up to me talking about sushi or marvel heroes and I just stand there but barely say anything. If I cared about food and TV shows I could probably relate more but I'm just wired completely different. I've literally been like this since at least 9 years old when I became obsessed with existence and how weather works.

Indeed these phases when we are at rock bottom are difficult to go through, but having the right people around us makes things a little less difficult.
I would advise you to see a psychologist to help you with this. It was a great help for me.

Drugs are the only way for me. And by drugs, I mean supplementation, mostly.

Cardio, lift, coffee, and doing new things to keep your mind interested. At least take some hardcore supplements that keep your energy up. Racetams, ALCAR, caffeine. Whatever it takes.

Just remember it's only a phase. Mine comes back like a sprained ankle, but you just got to keep going. Never give into the rotter mentality. It eventually passes, you laugh looking back on it, then the cycle repeats next year/month.

You have to stand tall on your long tibias and fibulas and stay strong above on your thick femurs. If your fibulas are too short, it will be hard to keep your head above depression.

Glad you made this thread OP srs. I just finished a talk therapy session as I've been battling this b1tch for the last 6 weeks. (My 2nd major episode of clinical depression in my entire life, so somewhat thankful). Those who don't understand it will never understand it until they experience it in their own mind/brain/soul/body.

You've just described it verbatim how I would. That in itself is helpful for me and so I hope it somehow is reciprocally for you too.

That's existential depression if you ask me, IQ is irrelevant of chemical imbalances that affect the brain's neurotransmitters. However there's still gold in what you're saying because dumb people do indeed seem the happiest (ignorance is bliss, right?)

Like a seed, you don't want it to grow roots.

This is easier said that done, but your best bet would be to take immediate action. And once you're doing good, keep the momentum going.
Depression is a downward spiral. It will consume you if you wait too long.
Catch-22 in my opinion...You have to try to keep going but everything mentally and physically is telling you to quit EVEN when you "know better".

Exactly! They don't understand that the homeless people on the street more than likely suffer a mental illness that in turn leads to loss of physical needs being met.

Too much real life. I've sprained my ankles 16 times total (not including just rolls) and the recovery time is about 2 weeks to start feeling a little better and then months to feel 99% better. Depression is similar in there's an acute phase that is so unbelievably painful but in time slowly lifts.

DrugsToGetBig, I'm getting that same ankle surgery you had this winter during the holidays when there's downtime to heal.

Damn boyos, I wish I could tell each one of you that we're gonna make it. In a twisted way, I'm just glad I'm not the only one who experiences these brootal feels.

Depression is not just sadness. It's like a slow death that makes you wish for a quick one but you have to fight through to the other side because you WILL see life is worth living and there's so much hope, wonder, and possibility for the future no matter the hand you were dealt.
Cope first, cope hard, no realtea
