This is definitely true of some people, but it's an even bigger problem than what you have stated.

Not only do some people, outside the black community, have the opinion you stated but, within the black community, many people think that successful black people are the "lucky ones". Somehow they made it, and not primarily because of their hardwork, but they had to bend the knee, or ****** or they are sellouts and etc. Somehow, someway, they got lucky.

This is because, and this is about to sound like a political talking point but it is true, the white liberal media has complete control of the black image.

Ever since Geroge Floyd we have been thrust onto the world stage, and what do we get? Blacks can't be expected to have ID to vote with, racially concious math because apparenty we can't learn it the same way everyone else does, we're apparently afraid to leave our homes for fear of white police officers hunting us in the streets, Van Jones crying on CNN because big bad Trump was defeated. It's honestly humiliating and offensive. There are real problems but the need for a liberal savior is not the answer.

At every turn we are either portrayed as helpless ****** in need of saving, or criminals. And why not? The most famous black men outside the entertainment industry have, of late, been black men shot by white police officers while engaged in criminal activity. No all of them, but a lot. I see more whites openly praising Thomas Sowell than I do blacks.

Our refusal to seriously talk about black illiteracy rates, black on black homicides, black children born out of wedlock, black abortion rates, and etc, causes some members of other groups to call them out. But, because black leaders won't have an honest discussion with broader society, the media gets to control the messaging and image.
