It's not as freedoms respecting as the stuff stallmanu likes, but Ubuntu MATE is turbo comfy and nice. I also use the qogir theme and icon pack.
linux is not light weight at all by the way. If you want to use it for gaming like Windows, expect to search for and install a lot of different obscure things. Also expect to spend hours tweaking things if you want to get a non-Steam game working.

No before it was impossible. I think this is them just getting rid of "browser" concept in the OS and pushing **** through the "use by file type" system. It just has the added benefit of locking people into Edge. Bigger browsers will just remap all the files types. Instead of "This isnt your default browser" itll be "Some file types are not mapped to correctly, fix?"

Lol. I've been using it since I was still on dialup. When my connection was chit 28.8 kbps it was ideal. Ads couldn't load. No pics unless you downloaded them.

I wish they would update it enough for https though.

Ubuntu is nowhere near as bad as Windows. It or any of the distros based on it, such as Mint, are currently the best starting points for people. The desktop environment will be familiar to you if you're switching from Windows. You'll be able to find answers to any questions/problems you have by doing a search.

If you take time to learn the command line and Vim you can move onto "advanced" distros or just roll your own installation.

windows is literally dog**** and the only reason people use it is because it has the most support, the product itself is garbage.
Windows is better than MacOS and Linux. Yes, even KDE Plasma.

Linux needs to improve so we have a viable alternative.

Well it kinda makes sense how they are trying to implement edge as the main explorer, but a lot of this is a result of the more web focused design that Win 11 seems to be aiming for. I am honestly getting a lot of strong Windows 8 vibes off it, going to keep my distance for a while.

These days I'm using MS-DOS era stuff.
Lotus 123 for spreadsheets, and a variety of different text editors that run in DOS.

Should take a google dev all of 15 minutes to automate the link/file association problems for Chrome users.

But... why? Pls explain rationale for using this older stuff.
