100% true

My best buddies a cop and he tells me with glee about how retards incriminate themselves every single day.
I don’t think many quite understand how the legal system works (or is supposed to work, nowadays it’s a crap shoot)
Cops exist to find you guilty. Always. Does not look good if a cop arrests somebody for nothing. Waste of police time and money and looks bad for the department.
A lawyers job is to find you innocent. Doesn’t matter if you did or didn’t do anything; they won’t ask, they don’t give a ****.
Let’s say you did in fact break the law. The very LAST thing you want to do is say a SINGLE word to the person who’s prime directive is to see you behind bars.
You lawyer up, they look at the evidence, they tell you what to say and do, and it’s their job to make sure the judge (and jury if it comes to that) can see reasonable doubt that you committed the crime.
It doesn’t matter how it “looks,” look up any story of people that get accused of harassing women and lawyer up immediately. Why do you think 9/10 times they get those cases get thrown out, as opposed to the dummies that immediately run to “apologize for their past behavior?” Because they ****ing admitted it because they didn’t have a lawyer to tell them to shut the **** up

100% true. Double standards abound

and in this case, the double standards likely resulted in her eventual death (albeit indirectly)

imagine a dude walking free after he just marked up a woman's face in a physical altercation...

She shot the 2 girls after an altercation and went full panic mode and is in hiding. He is covering for her by not letting anyone know where she is knowing it will be found out.

Or he just murdered all 3 of them.

only 2 possible outcomes imo

So if you are cheering for the sick **** that murdered a 110 lbs young lady, then yea, hope he keeps his mouth shut and that nobody saw him. If youre like most of us, we hope that he gets whats coming to him.
This is reasonable.

In no way rooting for him

However, speaking to the cops, regardless of if you committed the crime or not, is NEVER a smart move

Most are looking at this through the lens of a ****ing human being with empathy and compassion. You’re not looking at it through the eyes of cops and lawyers, two of the most vile groups of people on this planet. It doesn’t matter how it LOOKS to anybody. There is a system in place and this is how it works. Just because most either don’t understand that or have never experienced this reality doesn’t make it any less true.

Literally no one but the dude knows what happened. The rest of yall are fukin retards. She could have left with some other people after the fight, or left him and got herself lost then fell off a cliff.

I agree it's sus, but there is no reason to assume the guy is guilty. He knows it looks bad, whatever it is, so he has to lawyer up and stfu.

Say she did fall off of a cliff all on her own and he had nothing to do with it. He would still need to lawyer up and keep his mouth shut because every simp under the sun wants to peg it on him.

I get what you're saying, it's definitely in his best interest since he most likely is the killer but if I were

1. Him
2. Actually innocent

I'd immediately get on top of it and assist the police, not only to prove my innocence but also to quickly find help for my fiance who I'm worried about.

Listen I love you guys (no homo) but you are 100% wrong

You are looking at it from a completely naïve and emotional perspective

do you have any idea of how experienced the police are at getting individuals to self incriminate? even if you may be innocent?

You are going to get chewed up. They do this for a living. Police do not go around looking for innocent people

Without a lawyer you are walking into a death trap

NEVER speak to the police without a lawyer.

That is all I am going to say about it.

You guys are conflating two different things - there’s the subjective interpretation of events, and then there’s the legal case “anything you say can and will be held against you in a court of law”.

Sure, but he has his lawyer and still isn't cooperating at all. I don't know if you have or ever had a gf or someone you loved. If they went missing and you're terrified for their safety would you not cooperate at all with the police?

100% correct

the police are your enemy in this instance, don't get it twisted
they're ruthless in getting what they want (any conviction), you have to be the same (for your freedom)

Exactly! Buncha dudes in this thread just aren't getting this and clearly speaking from the point of view of someone who is guilty instead of innocent and worried sick about their loved one.

It matters in a court of law. The less you say, the better.

If you’re casually asking me if he’s guilty? Yes probably.

Let’s reframe the question: if he’s hypothetically innocent, should he have talked to the police or not?

Yeah this is super weird right? It's America and 2021 with the biggest news story in the country. Was there really no FBI or any detectives monitoring his house like hawks 24/7 using the best surveillance methods? Mind blown he could just leave like that?

Let's say talking to the police increases your chances of becoming a suspect/falsely accused of the crime.

Let's also say that talking to the police increases the chances of finding your fiancé sooner indirectly increasing her chances of survival if she is indeed alive.

100% shoulder the burden of the former for the latter, it's not even a question.

If he's hypothetically innocent, he doesn't casually drive home across the country without telling anyone that his fiance is missing. A hypothetically innocent person immediately calls 911 and gets a search party underway. Unless you're saying he knows she's dead but was innocent in the cause? Well then he's a total fuking douchebag for putting her family through this, knowing what happened to her but not telling them.

But anyways, now that he's on the run I doubt he's hypothetically innocent...

Seriously, I would definitely be interested in how the hell he escaped. This isn't just some random dude who attempted to rob an atm, but a pretty high profile case that is getting blasted across the nation. Someone fuked up

there wasn't 24/7 police surveillance on the house, just some media out front...so presumably he just slipped out the backdoor, jumped the backyard fence...eventually caught a taxi, maybe catch a greyhound to a city far away to plot his next move over the border
