I did. I think it was a marvel back in the day but I think when you look at the FF Series as a whole, X was far better. I also prefer IX and XII to FF7, personally. I like FF7, but I just don't think it's Top 3 all time material.

Especially when you've got games like Chrono Trigger, Super Mario RPG, FFX, DragonQuest 8, etc. I feel like if you're going for a JRPG in your top 3, there are better options, IMO.

Oof I can get on board with Mario 64 and SOCOM 2, but you must be one hell of a MLB fan to put The Show on your top 3 when MVP Baseball was an arguably better series. Hell I'd rather play Ken Griffey Jr Baseball on the N64 over the show, lol.

Post above mine doesn't have a list, but I like his take on the FF series.

Choosing 3 is tough.
Final Fantasy X (Replayed at least 3 times, best story of any FF imo)
GTA San Andreas (played, replayed, dicked around in on at least 3 different consoles)
Persona 5 Royal (Most recent game I've played I'd consider "the best" so maybe biased, but it's S tier).
Smooth Seas don't make Strong Sailors. Keep your head up.

Didn't play many baseball games religiously until I got a PS4. Im more of a hockey guy, but The Show is pretty fun. I just do the road to the show and its pretty pickup and play, so just based on how many hours/how often I play, The Show is up there. Its better/more fun than the NHL games and I am a super hockey fan(though the NHL games suck because of glitches etc online)

I guess I could replace The Show with Americas Army, when that first came out, on PC

Loved Bf3, and as far as shooters that’s probably my favorite FPS
Plants vs zombies is good casual gaming, but I need more depth in my top 3 personally
Ncaa I’ve heard great things, but never watch college football so never played them. Makes me miss old football games before it was just the trash madden puts out every year.

Hard to pick a top 3, but here is what I currently think in no particular order

Chrono trigger
Diablo 2
Mario 3

Yeah nostalgic, but I have been in that mood lately. Just beat Mario 3 again last week after not playing it probably 15 years, and now currently playing chrono trigger again. They hold up well IMO

1 - GTA San Andreas (& it’s not even remotely fuking close)
2 - GOW II (I loved every one in the OG trilogy/2018 one, but II was my favorite overall)
3 - Ghost of Tsushima (controversial pick but this game was a fuking work of art imo & I fuking love samurai)

Honorable mentions in order of GOATness: Sleeping Dogs, Banjo-Tooie, the Mortal Kombat series, True Crime SOLA/NY, the old Spongebob platform games from Heavy Iron (srs)

I forgot to rate these. I haven't played them all, but for what I have:
-Halo 1 is an all-time classic, but I prefer 2 & 3
-rdr 1 was good but also definitely one of the most overrated games in history
-tekken 3 is definitely a solid choice & a favorite of mine as well
-MK2 is an EASY top-10 GOAT game for me
-Tony Hawk 2 is my second favorite in the series, but THUG 2>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>TH 2
Dat feel when you land that McTwist over the helicopter? HNNNNNNNNNNNNNGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!

Feels like this is recency bias regarding FF7R. You got a game that took 3 hours of story and added more Bloat than new Thor to get you to a 20+ hour game for 1/4 of a story that you're banking on the next sequels (if/when? They come) to complete that story in a compelling way that makes you start from scratch with your power and ability all over again. Sure the cinematic and the game looked good, but it's lower then the OG on my personal FF list.

BoTW I see the draw. Not for me personally, but I see why it pulled people in.

I haven't played Persona 5 yet, not sure if I will or not.

I'll throw out another list for fun and to keep the spirit of the thread alive.

Kingdom Hearts 1
Super Mario RPG
Ogre Battle 64

1]STALKER
2] RE 2 Remake
3] Soldier of Fortune

Soldier of Fortune was the first FPS i ever played and fell in love with the genre. Honourable mentions to Project IGI and Return to Castle Wolfenstein as well.
Stalker is simly the GOAT for me.Metro Last Light wasn't bad but cant compete with Stalker in the post apocalyptic universe really.
RE2 Remake was my 1st RE game and i am a huge fan of the series now.Eagerly awaiting the RE4 Remake.

After seeing these lists, I kinda wish they would just remake some of these games with updated graphics and a few new things. Would love to play an updated Mario64(id have to get a nintendo as I only have a ps5)

Or even games like Dave Mirra BMX, Aggressive Inline etc from like ps2, I had so much fun with, would crack the top 10 and id still love to play if they were "current"

Unfortunately, I can't replay older games with **** graphics. I tried San Andreas a while back and the game is still fun, I am just severely jaded by the quality now on new systems/computers.

Pretty good list

1. RE1
2. Zelda OoT
3. Skyrim

I think the most fun I have ever had playing a game goes to Resident Evil.

OoT: looking back it's almost odd how good that game was.

Skyrim is just my kind of RPG. Witcher 3 just didn't do it for me.

Fallout 3 and New Vegas were contenders for #3

Poster above me didn't do a list so I'll judge this one

Stalker, have not played, heard good things

Re2, no issues with this being on the list, fantastic game, the atmosphere is ****ing perfect, I didn't have nightmares from this game but I do remember trying to sleep and it was stuck in my head somewhat, great stuff

Soldier of fortune sadly also not played.

My list

1. Red Dead 2

Going away to be honest, this was the first game I played in years that felt like just a massive step forward in quality and what a game could be, just incredible.

2. Ocarina of time

Like the above this one just felt like a massive step forward to me, I was a Sega kid growing up with the genesis and all the games I had were arcadey or like sonic games. When I played this, I honestly thought the game was going to end after the deku tree, stepping into hyrule field was a holy **** moment when I realised there was what seemed like a whole ****ing world in this game, never had a wow moment like that even from rdr 2, it's not number 1 because its not aged well, but it has to be on the list for the impact it had.

3. Baldurs gate 2

It was going to be this or morrowind, morrowind had better lore but this wins out because of the party system and the fact you get to know your team and actually care about them. An incredible RPG, BG3 is gonna suck anus by comparrison because that team doesn't have one ounce the talent of black Isle.

RDR 2 top down is a solid game, no complaints here. Additionally, Ocarina of Time definitely does not deserve to be there. The graphics are azz and the content is somewhat limiting. I never played Baldur's Gate, but every top down PC game like that just all seems the same to me. I also can't get into a game when they all visually look the same.

But for my list.

1. Ocarina of Time. I was kidding before, this game literally redefined the entire concept of what a game is. From the vast 3D landscape, the story, the extra's, I was blown away when I played it in elementary school. If you give me one game to play for the rest of my life, I would pick Ocarina of Time, every single time hands down. It is the greatest game that has ever been made, and I legit wish that they would remake the game with the unreal engine. Some guys online have been doing it themselves, and it looks utterly incredible, and if remade, would still hold up after all this time.

2. Halo Combat Evolved. Again, another game that completely redefined what shooters and games should require. This was one of the first modern games I had, and I played the crap out of it. It pretty much locked me into an Xbox fanboy for life. Then it was followed up my Halo 2, 3, ODST, and Reach, which were all incredible expansions in their own rights. Halo 4 was meh, and Halo 5 was hot garbage. But again, if you took away OoT from me, Halo 1 would be the next game I'd pick to play forever.

3. Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic.Rounding off the top 3, KOTOR was the first game for me that combined a franchise I already new, and made a story that is on par, if not better than the original Star Wars story. The world is vast and expansive, and you immediately fall into the story wanting to play more. The replayability is off the charts in terms of what you can do, and it's one of the first games that I played where your actions have consequences, and carry through. So to hear they are remaking it is fantastic to me, but it's a timed PS5 exclusive so eff me lol.

Games that just missed the cut and why.
- RDR 2, too similar to KOTOR for me, and I just can't ignore that a Star Wars game that long ago has the best story of the entire franchise.
- Gears of War, I played the balls off this game, but again, Halo really changed everything for me in terms of a shooter, so it beats Gears.
- BioShock, fantastic story, but not enough to beat out other games
- GTA Vice City, great game, but story not enough to beat out other games on this list
- THPS or THUG, all games were great, but took a hit when Skate was released.

Agreed with the sentiment.I really want to see Goldeneye remade because i hear so much about it from ol timers.

Another series i want brought back is System Shock.
