That was my first thoughts, but if you look at more witnesses that have came forward, he was the aggressor. One instance he actually got into a heated verbal incident with a wait staff at a restaurant up to 4 times apparently about the bill. They said Gabby came in and apologized before they left. He seemed like a hot head. My guess is he didn't mean to murder her but a quick slip of rage and the wrong angle of a rock/edge of the van caused it to happen. Did he mean it? I don't believe so. Did he do it? Absolutely. Manslaughter at best. But if he actually committed murder it wouldn't surprise me he goes off somewhere and commits suicide leaving everyone wondering, including her parents. He had some deep dark thoughts, so could see this knowing he would leave so many people in the dark.

If you ever get the instinct to physically attack a girl, the proper move is to dump their ass. Violent situations tend to come from guys who are insecure and willing to put up with crazy bitch behavior and then snap, or are consistently physical as opposed to leaving and escalate.

Admittedly the fact that they were on a road trip together made separating much less of an immediate/natural solution. We'll never know, but I seriously doubt the same violent end would have occurred if they had never gone on an extended trip, even though their relationship was clearly doomed.

After perusing their IG posts and various things about the timeline it seems like he probably amiably agreed to the trip and helping her without contemplating how that would actually go. At some point, Brian passively aggressively starts needling her on IG posts calling out things she was "guilty" of like being glued to your cell phone, the waste coffee cups generate etc. which since he was right next to Gabby she clearly would see the post which could only feed into the tension.

Its unclear if this was just how Brian was in general towards her or if perhaps her anxiety/crazy behavior had flared up and with them on the road alone he had nothing to do but fixate on that which caused him to start- But either way once the negative cloud was cast over the trip its easy to see how they would spiral downwards, noticing the things about the other they didn't like and weren't compatible. They were both undoubtedly in a particularly fragile state of mind having the first real relationship laid so bare, with Brian on one hand unable not to rib/agitate her but also knowing she was out of his league and making the mistake of tolerating increasingly worse behavior on her part, and Gabby most likely stressing about if this new venture of hers could be a success without Brian as her photographer.

As the trip went on its clear that at least Brian's negativity towards Gabby was all consuming since it even somewhat boiled to the surface during the police bodycam footage with him belittling her site calling it a "little" project. If indeed she was the one who started and continued the violence, you can imagine how angry he would be when that resulted in cops pulling them over.

With everything built up over the trip it's easy to see how things could explode. Gabby seemed like she had some next level mental issues considering even in the presence of cops and separated she still barely was able to master control of herself, or coherently convey why they were arguing. Also to cut up Brian that visibly, especially considering he was most likely trying to shield himself is a total bat**** level of aggression.

Having typed all that up I'm leaning a bit more towards him doing it deliberately but in a moment of absolute rage, perhaps just wanting to hurt her/retaliate from one of her assaults. If the restaurant story is true, I imagine that hostility kicked back off when they were together again when Brian had probably thought in his head that an incident involving the cops would have got them both to chill out and at that point but when that didn't happen there was no keeping the anger at bay even in public.

There are actually a lot of ways the police could potentially prove that he was NOT in fact the individual who drove the mustang to the nature preserve. Just going to take time to go through surveillance video and talk to witnesses. Once they place a different family member/friend behind the wheel of that vehicle--there is your lying to the police/obstruction/aiding and abetting/etc. charges.

Just lol if you think that whole thing was genuine. He totally gave off the manipulating gaslighting vibes during that entire police encounter. He just did that to try and show the cops that he's a good guy and to get them off his back. He gave off the vibes of a classic kind of guy who can pretend to be all nice in front of certain people and then as soon as they leave he turns violent and crazy. The entire police encounter was an act. Makes perfect sense that he would kill her right after that. Probably not a pre-meditated thing but out of built up rage from the whole fuked up trip and then the police situation which made him snap.

He lost it in a fit of rage, likely hit her way harder than he intended to or strangled her to get her to shut up. Will be easy for the autopsy to show. From there he drives home, says goodbye to the parents, gives them some sob story on how it wasnt his fault, etc and they help buy him time and resources to escape. Drop him off somewhere in the woods to stage him running away. Likely somewhere in the Florida swamps. Hell be found
