Lack of strong leaders. This is only going to get worse.
"The flowers bloom, then wither... The stars shine and one day become extinct. This earth, the sun, the galaxies and even the big universe, someday will be destroyed. Compared with that, the human life is only a blink, just a little time. In that short time - people are born, laugh, cry, fight, are injured, feel joy, sadness, hate someone, love someone. All in just a moment. And then, are embraced by the eternal sleep called death."

I've been in higher ed for 7 years, getting close to being done with dental school, and I legitimately have never considered myself "depressed" before. I watched two of my closest friends in undergrad completely ruin their lives (at least for now) because they became severely depressed.

One was a tall, jacked, charismatic, smart, computer science major that all the faculty loved - but beginning of sophomore year, he started getting high 24/7, got rejected by a girl, stopped attending all his classes, failed everything, dropped out, and spent 6 years getting a bachelors in political science. Now he constantly posts about Bernie on twitter.

The other was part of the reason I even decided to pursue dentistry. Dude would stay up til 3 in the morning every night working on physics and chemistry homework. He was a tutor, honors student, got straight As, graduated summa cum laude with a bachelors in both chemistry and physics, but became severely depressed his last semester. Went to a PhD program, hated his research and classmates, stopped going to class completely, got kicked out, was unemployed for almost a year, finally is working a decent-paying job for a chemistry company. But he could've done so much more, and I hope he does in the future.

This chit terrifies me legitimately. 1 in 4 kids in college should be having the time of their lives in college, but are "severely depressed." What's wrong with western culture that's destroying young people? I've got plenty of theories (loneliness, no belief system, debt, poor job prospects, social media, dehumanization), but it still makes me scared nonetheless.
Yeah i hated life when i was at uni, but uni wasn't the problem - i was.

I think the higher guidance of a belief system (formerly religion until social media globalism took over) and actual power, not uselessness 90+% of degrees involve are the primary problems.

Thanks, yeah working on it. Even literally dying every day I'm not depressed like these fairies.

It's funny you mentioned Jordan Peterson because his daughter had the same illness (C diff), went to all these psychiatrists and doctors and chit for anxiety and depression and tried diets etc nothing ever helped and then FMT pills cured her overnight.

So many people are being poisoned and lied to by pharmaceutical companies and medical "health" professionals. The majority of them are despicable corrupt scum trying to pay off their 5th house. Sometimes depression can actually be caused by pathogenic bacteria in your gut causing inflammation and producing neurotoxins.

If your depression is simply because you dont know which major to study at college or your crush doesn't reply to your texts you're an absolute fukin disgrace and should be ashamed of yourself srs. When I see some people claim they are depressed, when they tell me what the "problem'" is its so fuking pathetically insignificant I can't help but laugh at them.

Lmfao probably because her fukin trash scam cultist diet is making her depressed. Vegan diet should be fukin illegal but there's too much money in it, look up 'Vegans epitome of malnourishment' on YouTube and tell me those people look healthy and happy.

That family member sounds like she falls for every online cult there is and then wonders why she is depressed. Fukin dumbass.

When there's 8x fewer cars on the road you can do all kinds of dumb chit.

I have a groupchat of friends from high school I keep up with, but we haven't seen each other IRL in probably 3 or 4 years. We all moved way far away for work.
Why don't you move back to Idaho if you're wfh? Does your company keep tabs on you or something? I faintly remember you saying something like that, but I might be wrong.

I've been all over the place since they made me wfh, I'm in Poland now for the next 3 months, working. It's awesome. I've also moved back in with my parents when I'm not traveling.

Yeah, we're full remote but management expects us all to stay close by in SD. I had to ask permission to go to Idaho for 2 weeks. Kinda bullchit. We're going back to the office 2 (3?) days a week in Jan.

Going to watch some chitty local pro wrestling now, might share pics later.

If I didn't already own - I'd never live here.

My neighbor just sold his house for 1M and moved to TN. He paid probably 150,000.
