Is there a good resource to learn about the typical crypto cycles? Or is it just more about looking at charts and taking the hints?

no one knows what "leg" we are in. If bitcoin chops around 60-70k for a few more months, this "leg" could last a year and be an extended cycle.

RNDR is now just under $4. What an absolutely beautiful thing to wake up to. It's going to be a great day. Literally just printing money.

anyone here looked into ASIC mining?

it looks like you can buy a machine for $5k (Innosilicon A10/A11) or $10k (Bitmain S19) and return your money pretty quickly... I have a house with 220V and open space to set up a rig. Is there something I am missing here, or this really a profitable investment?

Gold is literally flat over the last 10 years too? Doesn't look very attractive.

Gets a lot better when you can run it off renewable energy but yea could be a nice passive.

Saw a story about a guy that heats his house in the winter with his miners doesn't even need to turn the furnace now just the blower to circulate the air.

Can you actually buy one though? Figured they would be sold out with a 2 year wait list.

im not sure honestly, I pretty much just started looking into this. I mined on a GPU back in 2012 and always wanted to look into ASICs... seems like the high level economics check out today from what I can see. I am sure I am missing something, though. Like not being able to actually buy the latest ASICs, difficulty rate increasing significantly, etc. something that I am not taking into account... seems too good to be true. Like why would these companies sell the miners rather than building a company and setting them up in a warehouse and mining on their own? Something just seems sketchy, but I am willing to throw down $5-10k and try it

Unless you're planning on capturing the waste heat from this to heat your home when it's cold out, I would shy away from mining at home.

The Bitmain S19 has a 9 month payback period with residential electricity prices, presuming BTC prices stay where they are.

Hashrate is going up too so expect closer to a year payback period.

This doesn't cover transaction or pool fees either to cashout.

However, if you can hedge the mined coins daily with futures or borrowed coins to reduce btc transaction fees, use the waste heat to heat your home, it can be reasonably viable. Mining has always been a big risk though - but at least with the S19 the breakeven price is below $20k so it's not the end of the world.

Mining during a bull market has always been profitable, but you want to sell the miner to someone else while the price is high and get most\all of that hardware back and keep the free coins it mined.

Mining also has a tax advantage that is non-zero as well.

Seeing rumors of metamask doing an airdrop.

There was a nice thread someone posted on Twitter about market cycles and where we might be. I would link it but unfortunately, I’m not at 50 post count yet. Type...dread bongo twitter market cycle. Into google and should be first link.

Didn't hear anything about an exchange, just a token airdrop.

Looks like Tezos is finally getting some decent projects building on it. There's two DEXs; Smartlink (SMAK) and QuipuSwap (QUIPU).

QuipuSwap has much higher TVL ( currently 20 million, peak was over 40 million ). Volume has picked up significantly since September.

The total supply of QUIPU is 10,000,000. The price is currently around $2.80. Circulating supply is around 1 million from what I can see. That's put it at about 3 million marketcap for essentially the best DEX on the ranking 40 token in crypto.

Needless to say I'm buying a bag.

Be careful trying to find a drop on this project. You'll miss trying to get like 90 at this point and end up having to buy in at 150

Likely gonna be a drop in the bucket in the grand scheme of things anyway boyo. $105 now will be solid when it's touching 4 digits but I'm just a rocket scientist, not a financial advisor.

It's ironic because matt damon would be the last person I would go to space with given his track record as an astronaut in interstellar or the martian
