I vaguely remember in the late 1980's some trucks being advertises as having a 'more car-like interior' and nobody thought it would be a selling point.

Camry, Accord, or nothing crew. Brb reliable. Brb can get modern low mileage no accidents certified pre owned variants for under $20k.
On the topic though, reminded me of the new American based electric vehicle company Rivian that went public this week. Their trucks start at $67.5k.

When hipsters who live in cities want to pretend to be hardcore and own a truck that is usually meant for cowboys and hard workers......when their hands are soft as fuk you gotta add leather because they may get chapped on rubber and cloth. The ride is too rough for their city roads
Look at Jeeps......holy chit how comfy they are versus 15-20 years.......they're luxury too.

1) No warranty support if you're away from anywhere but Cali.....
2) Support in general.....wait till 500 are on the road and they get influx of calls.....
3) Brand new company......one extremely loyal group of customers when it comes to cars are truck owners......you WONT get Ford/Chevy/Dodge truck owners to switch to not only a brand new brand.....but a fully battery operated one at that.
I don't have faith. Tesla went slow at fuk.....Rivin is going in dry af, hard af, with no pain meds........crash and burn.....

If you are going to make an 'outdoorsman' EV line of trucks/SUV's if would make sense to try to partner with or get some kind of licensing deal with Tesla to use their charging stations. Rivian is going to have to try to scale charging stations around the US. Along with service centers and all that jazz.
They may be able to do well on the California, Oregon and Washington coastal areas. Where there are plenty of high income earning 'green' types. But they are going to flounder trying to scale across the US.
I like the concept but they aren't going to be able to scale enough. Rivians main small truck competitor is going to be the Tacoma. Good freaking luck with that bro. Toyota introduces an electric or hybrid Tacoma and your fukked.

Was in the market for a truck 10 months ago and slacked off. Ended up having to look with something with higher mielage instead due to skyrocketing markups and used price spikes.

In Texas, optioned out duallies have always been Cowboy Cadillacs, but when the new body style Superduty came out in 1999 is when suburban dudes started buying them as daily drivers.
I remember driving down the road in a Chevy 454 dually and seeing a new Superduty pass me going the opposite way. It was September of '98...I immediately drove to the Ford dealership and ordered one.

Nothing beats Ram’s interior, bigger screen, 17 speaker sound system, luxury seats, love my Rebel, but yea, they have gotten ridiculously expensive. My sticker was 67, got it down to 52k last year.

"The flowers bloom, then wither... The stars shine and one day become extinct. This earth, the sun, the galaxies and even the big universe, someday will be destroyed. Compared with that, the human life is only a blink, just a little time. In that short time - people are born, laugh, cry, fight, are injured, feel joy, sadness, hate someone, love someone. All in just a moment. And then, are embraced by the eternal sleep called death."
