Wow, that was pretty bad from my understanding. Not sure how legally this might pan out but common sense here given the mans state indicates this was a bad shooting. Even if the shooting is justified, do you really need to unload that whole clip? Isn't there a wheel of threat that determines what level of force you should rise to. I don't think a cripple in a wheel chair holding a knife is high on the wheel. But I don't know chit as a cop just what i've seen posted here.

He was armed and technically a credible threat to other patrons who would assumed he's harmless, so I don't think the cop will be convicted. It's hard for me to sympathize with the disabled a hole that was clearly using his disability to his advantage here.

The amount of people in this thread remotely agreeing with this cop are mentally ill, there is no other possible explanation.

The other cop (one with the cam) you could just tell he was like "what the actual fuk" and in shock. Like his gun went down then the shots started going off so you knew it wasn't right.

And despite all the know it allโ€™s in this thread. The official policy of that police dept is two additional shots not the whole clip. Should have only been 3 fired.

Police training is the problem. At some point, common sense was thrown out and extreme force became the default solution for every situation where cops could claim a threat to themselves or others existed. Cops do what they've been taught to do because by following that training, they won't be held liable (thanks to police unions). There is no reason to use deadly force when other methods and some patience would also work.

I'm not anti-cop, but the notion that every civilian is a potential cop killer, and that the cop surviving his shift is the most important duty for the cop... is a recipe for disaster. If you take that mindset on patrol with you each night, then it's not a matter of if, but when you'll shoot somebody unnecessarily.

It's hard to view this as anything but a trigger-happy cop executing a civilian for not respecting his authority and complying with his commands.

Even if you somehow justify the first volley of fire, which I really hope they don't because it doesn't make any sense, the extra round into the back of the head is completely, 100% inexcusable, and is a separate use of force incident. There is absolutely no way that is justifiable in real life (now in court, that's a different story...)

"Police training is the problem" is what people without any real knowledge of police training say. That cop is an idiot. It doesn't matter if he was working at McDonalds or a police officer, he was bound to screw something up when chit hit the fan. Extreme force is absolutely not a default solution to anything really, with pretty much the single exception being immediate defense of life - that's what police training says. You have no idea the amount of patience cops have, in general, to avoid using force on someone.

When cops say "I feared for my life/etc" after a clearly unjustified shooting, that's them trying to lay their defense down for court so they don't spend the rest of their life in jail. Hard to blame them. Plenty of cops don't get charged with shootings that look bad because no one really pays attention to the case and waits for facts to come up (things like "hands up don't shoot" being a complete lie come to mind). There is the additional issue that plenty of cops do get charged 6 months, years even, after a shooting, and it's rarely news/forgotten, because that's just life happening as it should and no one care to report that.

Your whole second paragraph is ridiculous too. Most cops don't view every person as a potential cop killer, that's some idiot warrior cop mindset BS that's I've seen/heard in like 2 cops out of the thousands I've interacted with. Now, surviving the shift is the most important thing of the night, but that's just in general for any somewhat dangerous job - and that mostly includes buckling your seatbelt, driving safely, avoiding lawsuits, etc. Tactical considerations in "survive the night" are generally very low. Why would surviving a shift not be a priority? That's stupid. It doesn't mean cops think they're on patrol in Fallujah.

This cop was an idiot. Pretty much every cop in America would tell you the same thing unless they're fuked in the head. This cop does not represent all cops, or police training, etc. He is just an idiot and an outlier.

bruh he had a knife SOMEWHERE, maybe up his anus.. Obviously a huge threat, and haven't you heard how quick someone with a knife can close their distance? He could have seriously injured those cops within miliseconds...

Also that last shot where he intentionally waited and THEN decided to fire was because the cripple was getting up from his wheelchair. 1000% justified boyo

Lmfao are police NPC's?

-Absolute point blank firing squad like execution on old man in wheelchair.

-old man lifelessly falls to the ground head first while taking his last breath mid fall.

-Police officer still gun drawn pointing at old dead body

-After the laws of gravity have their way with the body as it comes to a stop the first thing the officer feels the need to do is put his arms behind his back and cufff him LMFAO.

That was one of the most egregious police shootings i've seen in a long time. I'm always going to give the benefit of the doubt to the cop but this was a murder by a psychopath.
