I don't have the requisite data to pool the 4 vaccine/dosing estimates. We have point estimates and CI's, we need the raw data to carry the variance forward through pooling.

We could kind of treat the vaccine/dosing estimates as separate studies and do a pseudo meta-analysis, but that's a hack leaving a lot to be desired.

Pool the estimates your way and let's discuss the result.

Stolifun and P51 have only their ideology to blame for my lack of concern about this virus. For two years we’ve been called selfish and made to choose between careers and getting a shot. The goalposts keep moving because of their ideology. Less than two percent of the people who get it die. Your ideology has ruined way more lives than this virus has taken. If we don’t put an end to this NOW, they will never stop. So, if you support this Draconian garbage, IT’S ON YOU. And why do you care that much anyway? After all, it’s only killing Republicans, right? You can’t tell me you care that much because apparently P51 is not pleased with me spreading my a cold.

This implies that the protection against Omicron afforded by 4 different vaccine/doses conditions may be as low as*please complete* per cent.

I want to quote this again for the Branch Covidians. I also wanted to add that apparently I’m not the only one who feels this way. You retards and people like you have backed us into a corner. It’s time to show you that it’s only a cold. I’ve talked to about 10 people today and all agree they’re tired of it. If y’all wouldn’t have gone as far as y’all have, politically, we’d be cool. It’s just a cold. That’s all it is.

You didn't quote anyone, but because I started the thread I'm assuming the "you" refers to me.

I have never supported mandates or the theatrical displays by politicians; I think they do far more harm than good. I'm in Canada so we don't have Republicans, but I can't see how a virus would know who someone voted for, regardless of country.

I was quoting myself kek. I wanted them to have to see it again. If you don’t support mandates and lockdowns, you’re ok in my book. I hate Mississippi, but I’m thankful they ended all of this retarded mandated mask wearing and lockdowns and never asked us for passports a year ago.

Post your single estimate.

I posted the 4 estimates from the article. You want them pooled for some reason, so pool them. What number (or series of numbers) do you want to discuss? Let's chat

I recall saying the contents are identical regardless of label. Some are very fixated on the label; reasons for label concerns are unclear and have not been stated.

Single sentence from the article:
"These estimates translate into Omicron VE estimates of between0% and 20% PD2and between55% and 80% PD3against Omicron"
The authors' 19% comes from the point estimate of 0.81 (mean), the 95% CI is 0.73-1.00, but frequentist confidence intervals are unintuitive.

"Prior to Omicron, the SIREN cohort study of UK healthcare workers estimated that SARS-CoV-2 infection gave 85% protection against reinfection over 6 months, or a relative risk of infection of 0.15 compared with those with no prior infection. Our hazard ratio estimate would suggest the relative risk of reinfection has risen to 0.81 [95%CI: 0.73-1.00] (i.e. remaining protection of 19% [95%CI: 0-27%]) against Omicron."

Where,

PD2 = AZ 2+weeks post-dose 2 or Pfizer 2+w post-dose 2

PD3 = AZ 2+w post-dose 3 and PF 2+w post-dose 3

But really, which narrative?

The Misc narrative is that immunity acquired through infection is superior to immunity acquired through vaccination (less risk, more protection), so people should rely on infection for immunity.

Why won't you post the number with which you're concerned?

I haven't dodged anything. There is a range for 2 doses and a range for 3 (from the article, which I've now posted a few times). How/why would you collapse those? Are you suggesting people previously infected have been reinfected multiple times and those are being collapsed?

"Guess my argument" would probably be a good game show!

The smallest number out of those is the number that goes in that sentence, to be a similarly sensationalized sentence like the one you thought was informative and essential to the OP.
So your argument is that both AZ and Pfizer afford as little at 0% protection, regardless of number of doses?

Thanks for stating a position!

I don't think it's valid to take the lowest CI boundary as a substitute for a combined CI lower bound.

Also, given what we know about antibody levels over time, I don't think it's valid to collapse across different numbers of doses.

Right. That's what I posted above.
So your argument is that any number of AZ or Pfizer doses affords as little at 0% protection?
Is your argument specific to omicron?

I still don't think it's a valid calculation.

Do you think there should be estimates for different numbers of infections or time since last infection to account for waning immunity after infection?
