I'd look for something with the lowest mileage than a certain type of car at that price point.

I dunno what 5K would even get ya TBH. Car prices like many things have really inflated. You used to be able to get a decent used car for under 10k not all that long ago but I have been casually looking for an extra car for my house with a 15k budget and there is nothing.

Any Honda bought from a guy named Hector should suffice.

5k can still get you something decent. FB marketplace is a good place to shop. Almost anything Japanese will be a good bet. I'd even think you could get a 2WD truck depending on where you get it. Usually those have far less value than a 4WD.

I still miss it.A $5k Japanese 4x4 truck, I’ll buy all you can find

Never had to buy a car without a job? What if said car can get you new job - but you don't have pay stubs for a loan and your parents or gparents can't cosign
Edit: bonus points if you can guess how long it'd take op to "save up" 5k to 10k dollars for a car if he's supporting himself. Presumably at a low paying job

You aren't likely to get anything good for under $5K.
