This is one of the reasons I stopped subbing to PS Plus years ago after I already stopped playing console MP games. Every game I could have wanted was already bargain bin status before it reached Plus.

Would be nice to see Sony just straight up copy MS this gen. Should add PS1, PS2, PS3, Vita, and PSP games to both their game pass clone as well as the PS5/webstore to straight up purchase. The total Playstation library mogs the hell out of the Xbox one so why not use that to their advantage instead of pretending everything before the PS4 doesn't exist?

sony didnt invest as much in their emulation tech as MS did. ps3 is a complete mess. the only way to play ps3 games on ps4 or 5 is to stream them from sony's servers for the psnow fee.

Deep Rock will be free on release day for PS users while $30 on Steam ($15 on lowest sale), and Persona is a $60 game less than two years old.The point is pointing out how much value people got from PS+ this year. No offense.I mean they announced backwards compatability as part of one of the tiers but they have failed so hard at backwards compatability in the past aside from recently having PS4 games run flawlessly and better on PS5, PS2 and PS3 games on modern hardware has been a fail so I wouldn't have much hope this actually happens or is optimized well. I think MS has a big advantage here with most of their stuff being built off of PC architecture, it's easier to do back compat while Sony has weird chit like the cell processor in their history.

There's definitely perks to having it, but this definitely feels artificially inflated, to try to chalk up a "win" for Sony since people seemed to catch on that their game pass competitor was kind of a hollow arrangement. And again, it's a weird metric because "cost" of games varies wildly through the course of a year. If you're just taking full retail price on the releases, it's not entirely accurate.

I might boot up my Ps4 for personal. I played DRG in early access on Steam, way too much rage inducing ai lol. It was early access, but the impression has already been made. I'm sure it's a solid game now.

But gamepass is literally £4 more than xbox live, and includes xbox live in the membership, although if you buy upfront you can get it much cheaper. So for an extra £4 a month on top of what you already have to pay to play online, you get a constant flow of AAA games, plus all the gold membership chit.

Sony are not on par yet, but obviously i can see them stepping it up in a big way in 2022. Microsoft just got out of the gates first i guess and kind of changed the game with gamepass.. so i expect sony to start bolstering their offerings this year.

Should be an interesting year for gaming. If sony step it up i may also pick up a PS5 to go along w/ my xbox.

I never get the whole console war stuff here though, it's fun when you're a kid but we're mostly in our late 20's, or our 30's here... we're adults who can buy both consoles if we desire, so why this bitter rivalry everyone seems to have? I am interested to see Sony's new offering, but I personally do not believe they will ever be "on par" with GamePass as it doesn't make sense for their business to have a similar offering. They will either have to offer less or charge more. Perhaps one reason they will do a 3 tier system is to give options around that but it simply makes no sense for their business to offer all first party games day one and indefinately at the price MS does, they'd lose too much money

To me console wars are fun to an extent. I enjoy the business side of competiton and like the hobby so it's iunteresting and entertaining to me what courses these companies have taken and will take in the future. Some people on these forums though, like Jay, Freeburner, Clive, Blissful, etc are well known to have a real inability to even recognize the positive offerings from whatever platform they don't have and make nearly everything posted in this section a toxic hateful discourse towards that thing they don't have and the people who enjoy that thing.
