A few fish from this weekend. Got out with an old friend of mine. Taught me a good bit of what I know about fishing and hunting.

How'd it go down? You been scouting it for awhile or just kinda happened upon one? What did you use to take it?

Out in the islands here, there are lots of seasonal cottages. A fella called and said there as a bear that hadn't left his property in several days. He was watching it on his cameras. He left a single bag of lobster shells out (stupid), and the bear ate them, then the guy cleaned up and left and the bear decided to keep trying to get into the cottage. He did quite a bit of damage, so the guy called me.
I simply showed up, shot it, charged him for the trip, and butchered it. It was not a dump bear, as there are no dumps out there, just a bear that learned the wrong things.
Damage of property, plus it was on my trapline. I am tanning the hide for the guy also. I make some money, and put food in the freezer.
Win/win...well... the bear loses I guess, but there are 50,000 bears in Ontario, so we aren't running out of them. lol. Some guys just shoot nuisance bears and leave them to rot.
No thanks, even if it is causing damage I still want to utilize what I can. Since my area is also my trapline, when its in season I can also take bears with a foot snare. Basically it handcuffs them to a tree till I get there. A cell phone trail cam ensure the bear is not held long.
Edit: Since it was a nuisance thing I used a .22 mag.

"I hunted that bear for years...over mountains and across rivers...pursued it far and wide. A true trophy ...the kind of animal that haunts your dreams and stalks you in your nightmares. It was an animal bred for one purpose...to end lives. Until that fateful day, it bested me at every turn. Almost as if it could hear my thoughts and see into my soul and anticipate not only my every move, but my intentions when I was unsure of them myself...With its razor sharp claws, sixth sense, and thirst for blood, this was no ordinary bear.
But I am no ordinary hunter...
The day dawned different than all the others. There was a strange feeling in the air. The feeling of suspense, but I pretended I didn't know why. But I knew...
Chasing this bear was consuming me.
The night before, I had stayed up until the moon was high over the hilltops, devising the ultimate plan...a plan that would ultimately bring me closer towards my inevitable meeting with this black death.
I rose early, well before the suns light crested the treetops.
As I strung my bow, blew out the lantern and slowly turned the cabin door handle, the thought occurred that this could be it for me. I mean, the creature had bested me on all other occasions, what would prevent it from simply being done with me and ending my life? It was 700 pounds of muscle and claw, and my stick and string seemed wholly inadequate for the task at hand as I stood there in the moonlight.
For a second I felt the same.
I forced those thoughts from my mind as I quickened my pace, the frost tipped leaves crunching underfoot...."
Is that better? You think field and stream will publish me yet???

But nah man, the real accounts of what transpired are far more interesting to me
The number of people on the planet who can say they effectively took an adult black bear with a .22mag on purpose obviously aint 0, but damn sure cant be many

Up here you can kind of do what you want on crown (public) land, but having that much acreage would be awesome.

Caught a few more fish before pulling the boat out. Pretty iced in now.
Ended Oct and Nov with 2300 total" of walleye caught. Not a bad year.

Now trying to make a few musky lures to sell. Hoping to make 40 this winter. Have some newer designs that are showing promise.

Congrats on a successful season, looks like that happens often for you. Nothing better than looking at a full freezer come end of winter time. Jelly of the deer, all I managed were hogs and squirrel this year.

A double edged sword tho. More stuff to shoot and eat, but they all don't taste great, plus there's the total ecological destruction they cause.
But yes, a good season. Starting on fish now. Limited on lake trout, walleye and pike two weekends ago. 12 more fillets in the freezer!.
