Yes but think about it, who gains from that war? Who came out to be the winner after WW2? US of motherfuking A. Instead of seeing European nations grow closer and closer to Russia, war in Europe, followed by all the issues that come with it. All of Europe will suffer but U.S. will watch from across the Ocean. U.S. won't suffer as much, in fact very little while watching Europe struggle.
Why do you people think NATO said no to Russia so quickly, they want a conflict, any attention away from Biden's domestic problems and at the same time advance their international goals.

Now, the real question is, what will happen in Europe. Macron is not interested in this because it will hurt France economically and cause issues for everyone. Neither is Germany. There are plenty of other European nations who are far closer to Russia than U.S. In this age, you worry about your pocket first, war is become a thing of the past. It can happen but a lot has to happen to trigger one, it doesn't benefit as much financially as before.
I think what Russia perhaps is hoping for is actually seeing this through, assuming U.S. will never say NO for NATO expansion so they will have no choice but to attack. Perhaps Russia is playing long game and think that this conflict and sanctions both ways will hurt Europe to the point where they will long-term change their stance and re-draw their political alliances. Russia is quite efficient and have a lot of reserves. You have to consider that Putin is smart and one would assume he has projected this far ahead.

So many potential scenarios, very interested to see how this develops. I am sure we are all concerned with potential loss of life but politics can be interesting. Human nature, never-ending lust for power, in this case to better your nation's stance on the world stage. Primitive, yet clever and interesting.
