He just got re-elected last year. So he has nothing to worry about for another three years.

Doug Ford is the one who needs to worry - his election is in May, which is why he's been hiding in a hole since this whole thing started. And he's the one who actually makes the call on things like masks and public health measures anyway, not Trudeau. But you can't tell protestors or the muh freedoms crowd that.

I think the measures are stupid too, and said three days ago in this very thread they will be repealed soon. We always follow Europe, just a couple of months behind. This "protest" is doing nothing that wasn't going to happen anyway in a couple of weeks - just like all the health officers are now suddenly coming out and saying we need to live with COVID like the UK did two weeks ago. Not surprised at all.

And I don't know what your social media is like, but maybe because I actually live in Ottawa the whole thing is being denounced. Most people who aren't part of the muh freedoms crowd think it's embarassing.
