A cultural rot in other words. Blacks as I understand it were doing well for a good while with stable families, small businesses, individuals pursuing the qualification to enter various professions. Then something changed.

For some time now there has been a mindset that poor minority students aren't capable of meeting expectations. Rather than work on fixing that I guess it was just easier to quit on those students and move them up a grade level each year based on their birthday, not their mastery of the material.

The grade level system isn't working too well. It seems that the old one room school house got better results- all the local children in one small class with a teacher that taught each student at their current level on each subject before progressing to the next level. Some children could advance more quickly than others without any stigma attached.

Fat? No. I am fairly decent shape as I have been active in lifting and combat sports most of my life. I can't do the amount or intensity I did just a few years ago due to school and work, but I am in pretty decent shape.
