One complaint Im hearing that I think is relevant and would annoy me is I've heard people say during puzzle scenes, Aloy tends to talk.... Alot. And goes on to drop hints really early on about what to do. I don't think I want that kind of hand holding through the game and I'm surprised they haven't added an option to remove it.

And for anyone who thought the story in the first was mediocre - the story in this one is fking awesome so far. Just got to a point where I learned some cool chit that I didn't see coming.

So I put in another 3.5 hours today. Basically I decided to not push main line or anything. Game is a big step up in the side quest interactions. I’ll just have to play this and ER together through March.
I also played this second session in favor resolution with low motion blur. I gotta say it’s definitely still playable. Very impressed with how good it feels. I actually put down Ghost of T until the ps5 patch because I found the fps so nauseating coming after primarily PC gaming.
Gotta say I might actually play the rest in resolution mode at 30fps. It’s just not bothering me as much as other console games.
Other than that. Having a blast. Game way improved in dialogue and npc like…acting while they talk. Beautiful game. Gameplay still great and improved upon. Story has enough going for it to keep you interested. Though that still definitely leans into over - exposition same as the first. But I don’t mind.
TLDR - Guerrilla games = das it mane

U foking wot m9's?
Aiite lemme be clear on one thing. Horizon is a 3rd person shooter. Just because it uses bows and other ranged weapons due to the setting and lore doesn't change that core mechanic.
I'm sure HFW improved on HZD's melee and made it more viable, but the only time I ever bothered with melee in the original game was when I was surrounded by a mob of weaker machines and needed an "oh fuk get me out of this" attack when my brain had a seizure.
Again, maybe they fixed it in part 2 but I never cared about melee in the original.

You could play just games from the PS+ collection for awhile before you even buy anything. So GOTY? Or elden ring or god of war? Damn I need to get a ps5, main game I want to try is ghost of sushi tbh

The melee is still garbage. You're better off using the bow point blank than the spear.

I use her spear all the time. Melee combat to me is better than just about anything else I've played in the last several years. Nothing immediately jumps to mind as being considerably better for sure...

Only time I used a spear in HZD was when I needed an OH CHITE they're too close, panic attack!
I don't think it's intending to be like Tsushima's buttery smooth swordplay. It's a shooter.

Also often times things are shooting at you, charging at you, etc and using the bow just isn't always ideal. Sometimes it really is just easier to go in with the staff.
Lmao @ anyone who claims using her staff isn't viable or good.

Main reasons I chose Horizon:
- I enjoy fantasy settings. I think it allows much more to be explored and makes the combat more fun when you can battle things other than just humans. Horizon manages to stay grounded in "reality" but at the same time finds a way to give me giant robots to fight. I just feel more excited for that. As such, the combat was far more varied due to so many enemy types.
- Much more lore and the story plays out like a mystery so you're constantly intrigued and yearning to uncover more. Whereas in Tsushima you play out a war story. Both stories are great but I prefer the former a little.
- Tsushima's open world was prettier, but Horizon's had more things going on. More variations, mysterious things in the world make you want to explore and uncover more. Robots and people roaming about. Villages were livelier and it felt like things were happening while npc's were living out their lives. HZD's world could be improved alot but Tsushima's world felt more empty.
