What else are we going to do?

Russians being targeted in the west is an abomination, even if they can find some sort of justification to the invasion (which we are doing here anyway, whether it's the facade of defending Russia's border from NATO, or because Putin is a mad **** that doesn't represent his people...) **** everyone falling into that anti-Russian citizen hatred trap.

Yeah I don't see it happening. Killing the guy would be a really dumb move but he's also in a terrible spot. If he flees then it's a complete backtrack, if he stays then he risks kill (maybe indiscriminately through artillery or airstrike) or capture. The latter may actually be the better alternative for him

Guessing if they pick him up they'll hold him and eventually exile him. No clue where to though

ya possible, very possible. the problem is that they dont know for sure if the economic sanctions are going to be as effective as they hope, and aside from that the west cant do much at all, so they are scrambling to find any way possible of fuking with russia as retaliation. this is what they have come up with, and like you said it might backfire, but its a chance they are willing to take.

again, i dont fully agree, but i understand the decision. i feel bad for the ruskis brah, i really do, but i feel even worse for the ukrainskis...

Keep in mind Pootin literally changed the law in Russia to let him stay in power longer than anyone before him. Also had a man killed running against him. Russians have known he was a madman for over a decade and haven’t done anything about it. Imagine if Biden or Trump had each other assassinated to secure them the election. The entire nation would be in the streets and DC rioting.

Putin for sure knew sanctions were coming when he invaded Ukraine, but I doubt he forsaw this level of response. If he was worried about NATO like he claims, he just got Germany to tool up in a big way and has potentially persuaded Finland and Sweden to join.

There was a video that was suppressed today of brown people (Indian students/travellers I believe) being refused to get boarded on trains in Ukraine and the people were shouting at them that they're not white(supposedly, not trusting the hearsay because I couldnt understand the language) so they cannot take the trains out of the city.

Can't see that one ever circulating in the media, lol. And whether it's legit or not is another story but let's just say indian commentators were..mad.

Taiwan says it was a transformer accident. If you're thinking China, my guess is they will wait for at least a decade. Right now the US Navy can sink theirs to the last ship, however they are catching up fast and there's nothing the US can do about it.

If the implied cause is supposed to be China then I'm willing to bet that isn't the case in this instance.

They stand to gain more in the long term by playing pseudo middle man and throwing the economic bone to Russia while they're caught up in this mess
