The SMP was done in Houston by SCALPP Clinic:

The most recent transplant was in Turkey by Dr. Serkan AYGIN Clinic.

Before that I had surgeries with Rahal, Konior and ASMED Clinic. Very happy with all of them, no complaints.


Total number of grafts was like 15k hairs. Remember that's including body hair. But also it was so many that it left me needing to do smp to make the back of my head presentable.
Is the SMP just on the back to hide the FUT scar or did you get it in the front/mid-scalp too to increase the illusion of density/less see through scalp visibility?

I'm getting a HT this year, how many grafts in total did you get?

What were you on the Norwood scale before

I remember the original thread you made when you got a HT, didn't you also say you started using tretinoin at the same time?

When I turned 30, I had my first procedure - an FUT strip method. Within the following 10 years, I had two additional FUT method transplants, followed by three FUE procedures. The most recent FUE surgery, which occurred just shy of my 40th birthday, utilized a new technique called DHI implanter (basically it extracts the donor hair and implants it way more rapidly). In this case they took whatever few hairs I had left in the donor zone, as well as neck hair that fall below where a beard would grow.

As my hair began to grow back, I noticed the back of my head was sparse given how much donor hair had been removed from that area. (Also, I previously had a visible scar from the linear strip FUT method, and had a few FUE hairs implanted in it to cover it). This brought me to having SMP (scalp micropigmentation) done. I had it done while my head was still shaved/short from the most recent transplant and it creates the appearance of thickness by darkening the scalp.

So that brings us to now, after several months of growth. I'm due for a haircut and will get it more styled, but on this particularly windy day, here's the comparison with a pic of me at 27 vs me at 36ish (cleaned up) vs me at 41



I'm growing my hair out on the top (but not sides) intentionally as I'll be aiming for a pompadour or more volumous high 'n tight the next time I get a haircut.
Also I'm no longer on finasteride. There's no point as at this point every hair in the "male hair loss zone" is a transplanted hair.

Essentially everywhere except the lower sides. The entire back area which was over-harvested and had the FUT scars, along with the whole top of head. Hence no need for hair fibers or any other cosmetic application. It looks dark & dense all over.

I was a 5a on the Norwood scale back in the day but closing in on being a 6.

I played around with tretinoin and different retinoid creams, but I wasn't really a responder to them. Nowadays I stick to just vitamin C lotion and sunscreen moisturizer during the day (and regular moisturizer if its night). I don't complicate my skincare anymore.

Op you are saying that donor hair is mpb proof. My uncle went total Baldcell at the age of 20 give or take. He has a strip on hair about 2 inches thick and it's getting smaller and smaller.....

Yes, donor hair (when taken from the donor zone) is mpb-proof. The donut-shaped area that surrounds the head that counts as the actual "donor" area isn't that big. If hairs are taken from other parts (too high or too low) then it might be bad hairs that are subject to mpb.

That's why I was relieved to also use beard hair. That hair never falls out either.

How strong is it? You can pull on it without hairs coming out or do you have to be gentle?

Lol, whut? Of course I can. It's thick & strong. The hairs are implanted, they then fall out (but the root remains). After several months it will then grow back out like normal hair. No danger of it being pulled out unless its with the same exact force as pulling out your normal hair. No issues at all.

Only the hair on your throat area would work. The hair on the back of your neck is susceptable to male pattern baldness & would eventually fall out.

Completely non-existent. You can't see them at all. This is with the new DHI extractor pen, so the diameter of the "plucking" instrument is smaller than regular FUE. I have no visible dots/scars of any kind.
