I think you guys are missing the point.
Anime is just japanese styled animation. (even then there are various different styles, think Kaiji or Dragon Ball).
The storylines are as diverse as any netflix show. For all subjects and ages.
A person who watches Akira, probably watches Matrix.
People who like Castlevania/Berserk are probably the same into Game of Thrones.

I'd bet money that you are some kind of insecure pussy based on what you've said.
You're a Bruce Jenner type, and you know it.

I read the Altered Cabon books and they were good. The show really didn't capture the setting due to money, sets, need for CGI, etc. Animation could have done it.

American comedies are almost never funny to me because they try to be funny, which seems unintelligent to me.

Didn't include it in the OP but I was blown away from Naruto and Shippuden. That whole story is amazing, brought the feels, intensity and excitement. Even better than Dragon Ball srs
Also, stopped watching attack on titan when
Spoiler!Is it worth finishing?

One REALLY positive thing about anime is that Japanese people have different story plots than western movies and TV.
If you observe, western movies have only a few plots and they just repeat over and over.
Someone stole/murdered something and the main character is out for revenge.
Cops are out after someone.
Thieves are out to steal something.
Military tragic story.
Some kind of science fiction Hitler situation is going on.
Romantic or absurd comedy.
That's about it and even the best movies are totally predictable.
When watching Japanese shows the plots can be surprising because they are stories that people from another culture think are important. I recall see an anime that was based on Zen Buddhism principles and another on Taoist ideas. A lot of times Japanese heroes die and that's an idea in their culture where if you do things that stand out, you will get destroyed.
So, these stories can be very refreshing to watch.
The only example in the west that I can think of is when I saw Vanilla Sky with Tom Cruise opening night at the movies. I had no idea what it was about. The movie seems to be about one thing but really it's a science fiction movie. In my seat I was like---what?! many times and I loved it.
Anime can bring some of that---what the hell---feeling that is very enjoyable.
The main thing I hate those is Japanese "cuteness" and humor, because it's profoundly stupid at times. I hate watching a realistic looking anime and some characters turn into a cartoon suddenly or there's a cute female character, but that's just the way it goes.

Anime is GOAT, my little bro got me into it. Demon Slayer is probably my current favourite. That whole whore district arc was incredible.
What's also interesting is that they make really good animes that aren't action oriented too srs. I used to think anime was all like dbz kinda stuff but man there's some really good deep ones. Would highly recommend The Promised Neverland(season 1 is legendary tier but season 2 sucks) and Erased.
