“Why didn’t he just flying arm bar him?” Is the new, “why didn’t he just shoot the gun out of his hand?”

Just imagine in 2022 people still think it's a good idea to fight and run from the police during an encounter.

Why are american cops so incompetent? Srsly? Struggling to contain unarmed fat manlet, rear neck chock would've put him to sleep in seconds and all of this could've been avoided.

You should see how they act at a hospital. They have this mentality if they're really loud, and act like children the doctor will see them quicker.

It should be expected to know how to grapple and thus have more in your arsenal of non lethal interventions...

We were not expected to know how to grapple fight or wrestle but you finally learn cause once the rank patch goes off you in da hood

Can someone explain how you’re supposed to engage and neutralize a suspect with grappling techniques without them grabbing your gun? Not sure if many people have done bjj but your hands are usually busy and it seems unreasonable to expect someone to use those techniques while the other person can easily grab a weapon off your person.
What people don't understand is there are times where it takes 4-5 of us to subdue someone. These miscers on the other hand belive that somehow, it should be easy to subdue someone by yourself.

He should of had backup and proper de escalation techniques. Sad to see

As was the case with floyd. 3 cops couldn't even get him in the back of the squad car.... which is why he ended up on the ground. He literally was in the car, he wormed his way out of the car onto the ground while saying "can I be on the ground"

but yeah it's the cops fault somehow.

Cops don’t need a whole lot. One of the officers at our gym does seminars every once I awhile for police specifically. Midwest has some great police bjj program/groups too.

They need about 3 months, 3days a week to get the most out of it. 1 stripe white belt at best. No need to even go to blue. And we actually get a fair amount of cops that come in just for those few months.

Arm drags, kimura grips, side control, few trip take down like osoto-gari, scarf holds, etc..

You quickly learn how to make someone’s arms stop moving and how to pressure them into a “stuck” position. Once grips are developed if you don’t want to advance position can just sit there. I could probably hold someone who outweighed me by like 25% In a scarf hold for hours if I wanted too.

Although I guess we shouldn’t tell them knee on neck is a legal move for us still.

Yeah when youre in your early teens..... but imagine a grown up , not knowing right from wrong.

Alot of black people feel they are entitled to everything for what their ancestors went through 500 years ago ...... while in reality the majority are bums, youll see a 6"6 fat fukc sitting home or at the corner of the street smoking a joint with other fails in life like him rather then having a decent hard working job.

How they are raised plays a huge role but they also have a genetic predisposition of violence, stupidity and lack of logic .

Some of them are really good, trust worthy but the majority , men and women are just meh

I recognize the point you trying to make, and it’s likely coming from a genuinely good thought process, however it’s just not practical.

Armchair quarterback is the easiest position in the NFL.
All while keeping in mind that his buddy is in the car a few feet away, who can be armed, or who might try come and interfere.

As we saw in the Floyd case, the courts and witnesses don't think like what you wrote. Wonder whatever happened with the other cops in that case.

Well with a scarf hold your one arm is jammed into the ground and your other arm is immobilized behind your head. The whole point is you can’t move your arms at all and are being pinned from your shoulders.

I agree it’s not a perfect solution but it’s much better then some of the dumb chit that I see.

a lot of larpers here act like BJJ is foolproof, but it is easy to make mistakes, and sometimes the suspect can be stronger or weigh more than you or pull out a knife. also hard to grapple when you're wearing more gear, and you risk getting your own weapon pulled on you. also not easy to learn

Lol this is ridiculously potato. Here is what you do:

- throw baton at citizen hitting him precisely between his ankles causing him to fall

- shoot grappling gun at citizens hand to restrain him while he is on the ground

- using meditation techniques to calm citizen down and de escalate situation

- ask citizen a series of questions designed to rehabilitate his mental health

- release citizen

- citizen becomes a time-traveling astronaut engineer

There are rules and an honor system in bjj (all martial arts). There is none of that in a life and death struggle.

A lot of these people that will be saying the cop should have done xyz will also tell you that you need to be a biologist to do something as simple and intuitive as define a woman.
The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.
