OP just saw this thread really hope your dad makes full recovery. Make sure you are there for him and be sure to tell him that you love him and that he was a good dad (wish i did this for my dad).
My dad was in simillar situation but he did not end up making it. I talked to him on the phone for an hour and everything was fine and than 20 minutes later he calls me and tells me he is calling the ambulance because he isn not feeling well...knew it was serious because he hated hospitals and would do this as last resort.
Long story short he needed heart surgery that was suppose to be 97% successful so i thought he was gonna be ok (really wish i told him i loved him and he was good dad at this stage but i thought he would be fine). The surgery went bad he ended up dying on the operating table and they had to bring him back to life. He was in ICU for 1.5 month tubes in mouth, all kind of machines connected to him etc fighting for his life never really got a chance to talk to him after this would get better than get worse get better get worse eventually got really bad and had to make the decision to take him of the machines.
Really hope your dad makes it and dont think that the fight is over if his condition gets better because it can go south in the matter of hours. Please feel free to pm me if you need to talk.
Best of luck to your dad OP.

Prayers bro. My dad has had two open heart surgeries for bad valves. Make sure he does the mechanical valve if they do surgery....flesh type valves only last 15 years or so. Mechanicals are typically good for life. Medical technology is amazing as far as things that can be done. Stay strong for your family and be the rock they need. Your dad will make it brah just trust the process.

UPDATE:
He came home for one day, couldnt take the severe pain he was in, he went back to the ER yesterday by ambulance, was tough for me to see as i had to deal with that and all the medics. They found out he has a blockage in his stomach now from the surgery, or so they think so

Be really nice to the staff caring for them and hell have better outcomes. No one wants to do their best when family is abusive towards the staff. Not saying thats you at all, but im just saying what a positive effect there is when you care for the ones caring for you dad. Healthcare workers have it hard in general and much worse the last 2 years. Even offer them treats or something because sometimes they cant even take a break to eat.

Hope your dad recovers.
He’s in my prayers.
I lost my mom recently after dealing with a lot of health issues including kidney problems. Had to go through so many stressful times the last 4 years.
Just stay strong and spend as much time with your dad. Medical technology has come a long way.
Also your ex gf is a piece of ****. Literally a blessing that she’s out of your life. You don’t need that weak ****
