Grade school grades don't even matter. I don't know why parents obesses so much about their kids grades in school, but stop caring in college and make them pay 100% of the tuition. Your grades in the 7th grade will hardly affect your life.

College matters because your major is extremely important. In many cases, your grades are also very important. You are in make or break your career mode in college.

THATS when it matters. Thats when your career is made. I saw plenty of "high achieving" foids in H.S get all As, but do chit majors in college and get chit jobs.

My Brother is currently paying for 2 kids (both gay) to go to art school. Top 5 probably. I think he's pushing like 150k so far. Just fukin lol. He's a hard conservative but both kids gay and going to fukin art school. He is in hard cope mode.

On one hand I feel it's kind of shytty to bring kids in the world and not being willing to help set them up for sucess (in theory anyway, obviously simply going to college doesn't guarantee that), but on the other hand...I had to figure it out my own, so I wouldn't feel any obligation. In fact, I think it's pretty ridiculous how many parents seem to think it's their obligation to fully fund their kids going to college.

I don't want kids, so I don't have to worry about it (hopefully).

We were fully prepared to pay for our daughters college but she qualified for a few scholarships so we only had to pay a couple of thousand dollars for miscellaneous items over the four years she was attending.

Our son didn’t even try for scholarships, even though he was clearly qualified for several, very mad about that…very mad…So we will definitely be paying for his but he just wants to dick around for a few years at a local community college.

I'd give her the money so it's fair.

If you choose to have kids, and it is planned - you would be idiotic not to have something put away, or not to have some sort of plan about how you are going to give your kids a leg up.

We're entering an era where everybody is going to be poor, and it is going to be very rough to get ahead. If you think the epidemic of people living with their parents into their 20s and 30s is bad now, just wait. It'll be no different than how people who grew up in the 60s are out of touch with what students in the 2000s have had to go through, because they could work in the summer and pay their entire tuition, and they don't understand that isn't applicable anymore.

If you simply cannot do it, that's one thing. But it would be idiotic not to give your kid all the advantages in the world. People are going to wax poetic about how their parents kicked them out at 12, and working as a minor in paper mill is how they built the raw skill and determination to become a junior data entry clerk by the age of 24, unlike those lazy ****s in school whose parents supported them. The reality is, a person is more likely to reach their potential if they have parents who support them.

With that said, AI is going to replace most jobs, so it might be irrelevant for 90 percent of people. We're going to enter a weird era where most people don't have a place. So maybe your best bet is to do your best to connect with your kid and raise a mentally healthy and functional person, because the world is going to get really weird and messed up over the next few decades.

Absolutely 100 percent. It’s an expectation to go to college. I’ll make sure they major in something practical/useful however. But even then, college education is now baseline to have any decent job.

Initially no. After they finish the degree and are paying it back for a few years I will pop up out of nowhere and pay it all off. They should feel the responsibility and dread that comes with compounding interest debt.

If they drop out or major in something stupid then they can do it on their own.

Plan on putting all my kids through college if that is what they want to do. Have a college fund setup for the first one. Second is due in November and he will get the same.

My parents sucked in a lot of ways. The best response is to not let them corrupt what you care about by bitterness and do the best you can for your values. I do not wish to continue any perverted cycle for the sake of it.
