Baby Boomers and Gen Xers could get a decent job out of high school with no experience, buy a house within a couple of years, start a family, etc.

It was the golden era of buying up housing, building a family, and living comfortably.

Now, kids can leech off the money their parents made all those years. If they're lucky enough to grow up in those families.

The ones that don't get a piece of that family wealth are probably grinding to get a good job. Or they've given up completely and are checking out of society. It's happening to both men and women. No one has the desire to get married or have kids because it's not seen as beneficial. Most people can't even support themselves.

It's all rotten. Who knows what society will be like in 10-20 years.

They get government assistance (food stamps, cash assistance, etc.)

They literally make more staying at home with mom and dad then they would if they got a job at least thats the case in california. I've seen it all of the place. Can't blame them they are just playing the system. But they should be learning a skill and/or going to school in the meantime

Dude all you have to do is literally just apply for jobs every month and sign a piece of paper and bam you have a ton of money to spend. Also parents have internet and xbox game pass is only $15 so there's really no incentive to work for a lot of people.

Theres an explosion of demand and a shortage of skilled labor in a lot of sectors, the opportunities are definitely there.


Admittedly, COL increases are ass raping us and definitely outpacing wage growth, and increasing the money supply by 40% in the last 2 years definitely disproportionately benefitted the gov/upper class while the middle and lower class saw marginal wage growth and benefit with massive COL increases

A lot of miscers here make good points with the rot lifestyle. An awesome first world lifestyle is available by not working and living with your parents: xbox game pass, netflix/hbo max, decent food delivered to you, free high quality porn instantaneously. USA is a victim of its own success and wealth.

In the short term, its awesome. A lot of non Americans dream of that lifestyle. Unfortunately, the efficient rotmax theory directly contradicts the lifestyle of pursuing a worthwhile career that makes good money, being a decent enough looking man to get a non slag-beast wife, and voting in/supporting policies that enable the individual rather than the politician/corporation.

Tbh its disgusting, a lot of my friends cheered lockdown mandates since it became socially acceptable to rot 24/7, then are "disgusted at capitalism" when the largest corporations increased their market share and small businesses got rekt and couldn't compete. Now they're shocked again inflation and COL massively increased after lockdowns fukked up our supply chain, the US let Ukraine get invaded, and rampant money printing to counteract the "deadly virus"

Anecdotal but in cali during covid the unemployment checks my friend was getting were equivalent to around $40k annually

There was also an eviction moratorium and rent was suspended/deferred for way longer than needed

Also disability is easy to game and can support a rot lifestyle
