Eminently Qualified Human (Jocko) (4:40am) (But why)

Started using Jocko's EQH App over the last few weeks and see a noticeable difference in my focus and daily goals. Cannot recommend it enough. Even though a few of these categories right now aren't priorities, it's a solid review of my day and helps me look at what I need to get done tomorrow.

https://apps.apple.com/us/app/jocko-...p/id1594290472

It's an app with a daily Likert evaluation (and ability to set a reminder to do your eval daily) that includes:

1) Health - Physical Fitness, Sleep/Rest, Diet/Nutrition

2) Personal Development - Intellectual Fitness, Time Management, Financial Management, Personal Goals

3) Professional Development - Performance, Advancement/qualifications

4) Character and Leadership - Humility, Emotional Control, Mentoring/Charity

5) Relationship - Family, Friends/co-workers

6) Preparedness/Safety - Martial arts/self defense, Weapons Training, Fire/safety/emergency, Neighborhood/Community Impact

I don't need to rely on an app to live my life.

I dont see the problem with someone using this? Its essentially a digital collection and assessment of your activities and it guides you to help you ensure you have balance in your life. Some people do that in their brains (many cant do this effectively), some people write it down. Think of it like a training log for the gym.

You might have the wrong perspective on what this is supposed to be. Nice find OP.

That may not be a healthy way to live life. Idk if it makes you happy do it, but it seems kind of egotistical to keep trying to achieve and be better etc instead of just trying to be happy, connect with other people, enjoy the moment, etc. I only say that because that’s where I am in life now. I used to be like that before I finally got out of grad school and now have a freat job. I’ve made it. Everything in my life is great except I haven’t found a gf I want to marry yet. Now I just try to enjoy my short life and stay healthy. If it helps you do those 2 things I just said then it’s worth doing!

In. A lot of times I need a good kick to keep me in the right direction. Sometimes it's something very simple, a light reminder. But I'm the first to admit that when I have zero guidance or discipline, I get lazy in multiple aspects of my life. Definitely going to check this out.

I started following Tu from Ronin Tactical as well. Moreso for his mindset, similar to Jocko. Big on self discipline, development, meditation, etc. Certainly beats sitting at home drinking on the couch.

EDIT: On spread with red as usual.

My life is pretty well balanced, but my effort is not. I've been coasting at work for years and it's time to step up my game. Maybe that's mindfulness and being present, maybe it's quite literally living up to my potential. Either way, it exposed my complacency at work.

I can see that from you perspective and appreciate you sharing it. My goal is to continue improving and achieving, and that is done in conjunction with the people who are important to me. Personally, I am happy when I'm striving to be better, and striving to be better can be a better partner, a better friend, etc.

Same here! I really appreciate his take on motivation versus discipline. About all I'm ever motivated to do is eat ice cream and watch TV in bed. But motivation is irrelevant if you are disciplined. Wore my Discipline Equals Freedom tank to the gym yesterday, in fact!

I watch videos of people like Jacko when working out. They all talk about getting up extremely early. I used to get up at 5AM and workout in my early twenties and then weightlifted at night. Now im 33 and work 50-60 hour weeks and find it impossible to get up at 5AM, 7AM is about as early as it gets. But his program is worth checking out?

He goes hard with the early mornings but it doesn't work for everyone and IMO, consistency and getting the work done is far more important than what time you get it done. Check it out, see if it works for you!

For sure consistency is key. I'm at the age in my life where I want to see what my maximum output is and feel like there is definitely something to getting up earlier. Ill check out the app though for sure!

Holy cow I did the evaluation and it basically called me a lazy piece of sh!t... but I did take a day off work today and it was really a recovery day mentally and physically...

I think this app is great because it grades you on actions you are taking... most people would take a look at where I am and assume all fives... but my score was a 1.1...

Thanks for sharing this is awesome

Just did mine, 1.9 here! You know what, that means we can do better tomorrow. Nothing to feel bad about, time to strategize tomorrow!

I'm stepping up my workout to 90 minutes in the early morning and will focus on preparedness and relationships as well as mentoring tomorrow. What's your plan?

Going to check on my house gut remodel and make sure the electric and water is on track, ride my bike around the new neighborhood, back to home gym and workout, shower, make dinner with GF, plan out next steps to the house and analyze rent markets
