Then these. Agree that it is a judgement call and that if you are older/more advanced then I would lean more towards "why not?".

And this couldn't hurt. You might even try being humorous if you have the charisma for it...

Nah , them lifting «wrong» will build up their ligaments & tendons.
Meanwhile strong powerlifters will snap in half If they flair their elbows an inch too much during bench press
Cat deadlift master race with their superior Low back strength dont need to worry about chit like that

in those scenarios, no cause you don't know what they are doing - some people do scared cat deads intentionally (atlas stones are nothing but a scared cat deadlift)
I will pay attention when people are doing implements and will land on something if they fall so I can guide them away from it

I started lifting at 17 and jumped right into powerlifting. By the end of the year I was deadlifting 365 in a commercial gym with my baby face. So many boomers with the "I've seen and done it all and let me tell you" attitude would warn and criticize thinking it was helpful. All it did was ensure me that what I was doing was the right path as these people not only had blown out piss poor physiques for being Mr. seen and done it all, but also there was a transition occuring in gym culture. Around 2012-2013 the half squat became a mainstream meme and strength training came out of the shadows of grunge gyms and into the mainstream with youtube personalities with 1500lb totals that were 10% bodyfat. Still in a commercial gym now, but the amount of guys and girls I see squatting with proper form and making the effort to do heavy weight and foolow rep schemes and programs is great. The only people out there still half squatting are just people stuck in their own ego. You can't spend 5 minutes researching lifting without a deep back squat being reccomened, which is great. As lame as instagram is, I think it brought alot of people into the gym with youtube fitness guys from 2012-2016 showing the newbiews the correct path. Back in 2012 I was literally the only kid in my High School who squatted below parralel and paused a bench press with an arched back. Thats hundreds of high school athletes with several coaches and trainers in the weightroom all year long and not a single kid could squat 3 plates with anything close to correct form.

"Hey bro, not trying to tell you what to do, your decisions, just want to say I'm aware of serious lifelong injuries deadlifting with back arched like that. You may get away with it for a while, but then one lift, and it's snap city. Anyway man, good luck, and just giving my 2 cents."

I'd only interfere if the situation meets one of the following criteria:
1: anybody with good chance of serious injury
2: hot chick or nice person with bad or dangerous form
If a surly stranger wants to do heavy deadlifts with a cat's posture or bench with no guard, **** em.

If you're lifting with terrible form with the amount of excellent information available online or with a half decent trainer, then I'll assume they've an arrogant kunt that can't be told. So I'm happy to watch them fold.

I've done it twice:
1. Once where someone was doing deadlifts with horrendous form, I politely corrected them on their form just to prevent a fked up back injury, like the one I sustained and came back to haunt me periodically and struck me when I was in the quarantine camp.
2. A dude got trapped under the bench and was fighting to keep the bar off his neck.
Number 1 was arguable, perhaps I should have kept out of it, but number 2 is just the right thing to do to prevent someone getting squashed.

The gym used to be a place full of like minded people just trying to better themselves. Never an issue getting a spot/assist on things. Now gyms are full of IG wannabes doing chit for likes. I mind my own business.

Srs answer
I think a jacked dude or an older man in good shape could more acceptably help some guy that is clearly new to lifting. In a polite manner.

nope. Telling them how to perform a lift would just make them angry and continue to do it improperly out of spite of me "preaching" to them.
While gym injuries can be grizzly, they're very rarely fatal, and sometimes people need to learn by making mistakes even if it means snapping their back, tearing a rotator or an ACL.

Nah. I mean if they drop the barbel on their neck and are about to die I’ll help get it off but that wasn’t the question here.

-scared cat deadlifts
If these go wrong I’m thinking lifelong injury (maybe not the bench one idk)
Usually I try to just ignore and focus on what I’m doing but in the back of my mind I’m waiting for the snap/scream
Should I just MYOB or should I say something?
Srs replies only please

I start off with, "Hey, it is none of my business but.... bla bla bla and this could wreck you and require surgery in the future."
They usually say thanks and i walk away.
It is rare and see signature.
The last example was a guy decline benching and 1 side was 3 inches higher on 1 side as he pressed up.
There is an unspoken thing, we are iron brothers and sisters, we are to support each other and...It is our duty to support our brothers and sisters in the iron game!

The answer is no unless you are lifting with that person. That kind of gym culture no longer exists. Ten or more years ago, sure, but now the odds of someone taking your advice are so astronomically small its not even worth the breath

No. Not my problem, and not looking to start problems. I'm not a PT or "coach".
Now if an incident has already taken place (e.g. bar is down on the guy's chest and he's clearly in extremis) yes I would then probably intervene.
